The Hobby Shop tracks sound like a style of trance I've been wanting to return for years. 2004-2006 drive and rawness but still with some melody.
This is exactly how I feel. The Hobby Shop tracks have such a 2005 Somatic Sense energy I've been craving for. Papillon is super explorative and layered. Can't wait to hear more from Eletania and Hobby Shop! The last two tracks are good, but a bit on the clean side for me to listen to repeatedly.

I just wanted to say how genuinely impressed I am with this release. I honestly didn’t expect such a high level of professionalism from forum members on a first listen, every track sounds incredibly polished and well produced. All five tracks bring something unique to the table, both musically and technically. The mixdowns are clean, the stereo imaging feels wide and immersive, and the overall sound design is on point across the EP.

Papillion what a beautiful journey combined with a solid foundation and the fact that it runs for 11 minutes+ really allows the atmosphere to evolve naturally.

The @Narel edit I absolutely loved it. The sound is well-balanced, and mesmerising. The clarity is in the high end, makes it one of my personal favourites from Narel so far.

The Hobby Shop tracks by @erickUO are simply superb. Those basslines are tight, groovy, and full of character, really capturing that classic trance feel while still sounding fresh. The arrangement and energy flow are spot on.

You guys absolutely smashed this, this release is on another level !!

Entire release is good guys. As usual appreciate there being a mix of substyles and also think this might be one of my top Narel tracks. Original journey is hard to beat, Halon I am impressed.

Really been enjoying both versions of ‘Papillion’. The way the melody floats in and out throughout the track is wonderful.

‘Nadir’ does a great job of building energy as the song progresses. Simple but catchy melody embodies the classic trance sound.

I appreciate how the artists on the EP have their own sound/identity. Just goes to show how much creative opportunity there is in the trance genre.

Thanks for the comments (all) on this. I need to point out this is mostly @Halon tune. My edit involved:
- new kick, percs & subtle fx
- new bassline
- bass pads in breakdown
- arrangement tweaks & quantisation edits
- mixdown & mix engineering
The melodies, pads etc are unaltered except for the production stuff above. My aim was to preserve the original mix vibe.

respect that every one has its own identity. for the typical bandcamp release the reality is often to be the opposite. there is something for every mood, but i can see the real trance spirit in all of them. for hobby shop tracks the bassline has the rough sound i really like in trance (see below).

Overall I like the release, but have mixed feedback. As others have mentioned, the baselines in each track are very good. There's a big lack in character in basslines today, so its appreciated. Papillon original is my favorite out of the bunch, but it's a bit rough round the edges. I don't feel the same track clashing sensation that others mentioned here, but when you listen to Narel's version the difference is clear. That's a good track too, however the arrangement of the original version is excellent and after 3/4 listens it really started to hook me in a very big way. Top work.

The Hobby Shop tracks are similar in that some production or sound choices sound off. For Solar I think the breakdown needed different treatment as the rhythm of the bassline felt awkwardly paced when so isolated in that section. It worked much better when it drops and lifts off. For Nadir it was maybe some harshness in elements, mostly the high-hats and some general white noise feel. On the flipside other sound elements, like the bass, some FX, kick and other details sound perfect, and both tracks are the most 2005 sounding ones I can think of in a decade or more. Any hardware used, or all software? If this truly is one of your first trance releases you should be greatly encouraged, because you display a understanding for the genre that seemed to have escaped almost everyone.

I already commented on Echoes of You previously. It sounds very professional, clean and well balanced. The melody is good. Just more sophisticated build next time please.
