yup, agreed. humans are (unique) indivuals with a tribal tendency. so you're going to end up with groups of humans that deviate from one another based on preferece. which is part of the reason why I think countries as a construct are a good/valid solution. and i'm in favor of (controllable) borders. Some cold harsh ideas I'm thinking about at freaking 7 AM:
- Not every society wants to be Western progressive liberal democratic capitalist,
depends what your metrics are. our society can objectivly be the best/superior. that still doesn't mean everybody wants to live there or that everyone should therefor live there (or in a country with similar standards)
- and that should not be held as the "gold standard" for societies worldwide
yes. Machismo is a form of male sexual display to impress females, biology virtually always > ideology, And the harder you push against that, the harder it will resurface. Thats psycho behavioral analysis 101
- Machismo will always exist, and no number of progressive politicians and policies will change that
well sure, there's always going to be some form of pushback from an outside group in the same way that say progressives in this day and age push against the traditional nuclear family/ sanctity of children. That doesn't mean that its not a good idea to bring as many people as possible in the same fold/game.
- LGBTQ+ rights will always be in a tug of war against religion and society's general conservative values. There will always be a critical mass of people unwilling to accept LGBTQ+ for who they are, their lifestyle, or who simply don't care about LGBTQ+ rights
- Society has way too many problems to care much about LGBTQ+ to begin with
not neccesarilly, human rights include both sexes. The problem starts when one sex-subset wants to have exclusive rights for whatever reason.
- Women's rights will be at odds with men's rights
correct. if there's a system in place which actively discourages reproduction to below the replacement line (i think its 2.3 kids per household?) that society will eventually implode.
- If a society's 20- and 30-something year-olds are unable to buy homes, are saddled with debt, and decide to put off having children, that society will eventually implode
I think reset to a more biologically essentialist/primitive societal structure is more accurate. but yes I agree. I actually think that the tyrannical patriach scenario might not even be one of the least undesirable scenario's given the alternatives, as it at least opens the doors for socieity to progress to modern day era stage again. A far worse scenario IMO is ending up with a a universe 25 esq behavioral sink, leading to even less offspring and less functional offspring being born, up till the point where you might end up with full on extinction.
- If a society's young men are un/underemployed, un/undereducated, and have no hope for the future, that society will eventually collapse. The economic impact will be massive even if women take up most of the good jobs. With time, there will be a wacko that rises to power by promising jobs and wives to these men... by stripping away women's rights and education.
Why on earth would you think he'd like that m8, he'd probably be crying just reading it halfwayJordan Peterson liked that. (Maybe)
Good question, I wasn't thinking about something specific for "rights." Though I will admit that things like trans people competing in sports still get people heated up, even in the West.I think you can make a very good conservative case for instance gay marriage. I also disagree somewhat with the notion (though you didn't specifically imply that) that the LGBTQ+ community are "oppressed" in western society. what actual rights do the cis have that the LGBTQ+ don't precisely?
They can (in most western world instances including the USA) Marry, have children, run for office, Vote. just as much as their straight peers. So when you say "rights", what do you mean precisely? that rights do they desire that the opposing party has but they don't?
Left ambiguous on purpose because even I couldn't define them. The wiki would be a good start:not neccesarilly, human rights include both sexes. The problem starts when one sex-subset wants to have exclusive rights for whatever reason.
it again begs the question: what do you mean by rights?
Sadly, any kind of discussion online about men's rights immediately turns toxic due to MRA, incel, TRP ideals.Common topics discussed within the men's rights movement include family law (such as child custody, alimony and marital property distribution), reproduction, suicides, domestic violence against men, circumcision, education, conscription, social safety nets, and health policies
LOL I thought he would agree with that. Guess not.Why on earth would you think he'd like that m8, he'd probably be crying just reading it halfway
well its important to define that because a right, is a very specific thing. as opposed to a privilege or a desire or what have you.Good question, I wasn't thinking about something specific for "rights." I agree with both you and the mexican society on that too. and again, as you pointed out later:The LGBTQ+ comment is coming from an incident that happened recently in Mexico. Link to the article. Remember that Spanish is a gendered language, so there is no "room" for non-binary pronouns. In an online class, the students were discussing a hurricane that had happened recently and wrecked people's homes. One of the students in the class was non-binary.
Another student referred to that person as "mi compañera" (my female classmate), and the non-binary person basically shouted at them "I am not your compañera, I am your compañere." The second word is not real - there is no accepted way to remove genders in Spanish - and this person was mocked relentlessly on social media. The truth is, I agreed with the general Mexican society, because at the end of the day her issue is much less important than what was being talked about (a hurricane destroying people's homes).
With respect to my original bullet point, "using non-binary pronouns" should not mean "LGBTQ+ rights," but that's more like what I was thinking when I wrote it. Even stating that "LGBTQ+ want the specific right of using non-binary pronouns" is kind of a fallacy, because if that became socially acceptable I too as a cis person could ask people to refer to me with a different pronoun (instead of he/him)
I'm not detailly versed with MRA's spear points, i know the overall issues. but if they can point out a law discriminates so for instance: a man should be drafted but a women not, or, in case of divorce custody automatically goes to the mother, then yes, they have a point concerning rights.Left ambiguous on purpose because even I couldn't define them. The wiki would be a good start:

he might agree with it. that doesn't mean he therefor likes it.LOL I thought he would agree. Guess not.

And trans people actually do have the right to compete in sports, What is disputed is that they have the right to compete in the sports sex-catagory of their choosing. which is not a right a cis person has either. If you're a male, you're not allowed to compete against women in, say, martial arts. so this is a prime example of wanting non-equal rights. as opposed to equal rights, which is the reason why it is so heated up.
the issue is not that they want equal rights...the issue is that they want exclusive rights.
I agree with both you and the mexican society on that too. and again, as you pointed out later:
being adressed by your prefered pronounce is not a right "binairy" people have either. I see no reason why non-binairy people should therefor be afforded that right as I think people (whatever people) should be equal under the law.

if however the law does not discriminate, as in: any citizen over the age of 18 will be drafted, or in case of divorce custody will be tilted or split even between the parents based on XYZ. they don't have a point and are demanding exclusive rights.
suicides, domestic violence, circumcision, etc. with the exception maybe of circumcision, however aren't rights issues, they're issues, but not rights related (afiacs)
he might agree with it. that doesn't mean he therefor likes it.
Fewer men than women are attending college, which is leading to a "mating crisis," the New York University professor Scott Galloway told CNN on Saturday.
Women made up 59.5% of college students at the end of the 2020-21 school year, an all-time high, The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month, citing US Department of Education data. That's in comparison to 40.5% of men enrolled in college.
I'll just say that I'm glad we are able to have this respectful conversation, because it's so difficult to talk about these things IRL.
Makes you wonder what's driving colleges to have become such inhospitable places for (young) men doesn't it..Had all these thoughts in the back of my mind for a while, but it's taken me some time to put them in words (and of course with their own issues/missing things, like what a right is)
For more on what motivated my earlier comment, take a look at this US news article from a couple of days ago:
An NYU professor says fewer men going to college will lead to a 'mating crisis' with the US producing too many 'broke and alone' men

Start your own business/work for a small company m8. big business/government are the absolute worst. So, I had a chat to a recruitment agency staff member and she wastes her time and my time calling me. Asking me about this role which they offer $45 per hour for a Government and then she changes her mind advising me that she feels that the other candidates would be better suited for the role because they sound way more confident and have more experience than you do. So, working for the Government for the last 15 years is not enough experience. FML and then I tell her that not only have you wasted your time but mine as well. What was the point of this phone call? She then said she will not present my application to her client.
I am not going back to these recruitment agencies they seem to be such waste of time.
I am on it man, if it were easy then there wouldn't be so many business failures and how a lot of businesses struggle in their 1st year. I want to make sure I don't want to fail really bad it's fine if I fail but not to the point where I lose my entire life savings and I have a lot of ideas. I cannot upload this one here because it's too big here is a rough draft i made. business-ideasStart your own business/work for a small company m8. big business/government are the absolute worst.
It's a childhood dream of mine. I love space and sciences and Astronomy is my favourite type of science. The strange thing is that I have Megalophobia (fear of large objects) and Cynophobia (fear of dogs)Space Agency - Rocket Company.
That sounds like an interesting one. I wish you good luck.
Recruitment agencies really are in it just for themselves. They get commission (usually a % of your salary) if you are hired by their clients. So, I had a chat to a recruitment agency staff member and she wastes her time and my time calling me. It seems like such a waste of time delegating it onto people who don't have a clue how the industry work or don't have any educational knowledge on how the industry works. That's the one thing I struggle a lot and have been struggling a lot with is confidence.Recruitment agencies really are in it just for themselves. Your experience is likely fine, but if the recruiter figures out that you wouldn't be hired by the client, they're going to cut all ties with you immediately. That's the way it is...
I've heard of hiring managers that desperately need people and would have hired a candidate on the spot, but HR/the recruiters declined the candidate because the candidate "wasn't confident."
Yep, that's every hiring manager's frustration with human resources and recruiters, especially if they need someone in their team now.It seems like such a waste of time delegating it onto people who don't have a clue how the industry work or don't have any educational knowledge on how the industry works. It's a learned skill. My older brother has over 700+ networks and he earns way way way more than me. He was able to find confidence in himself because he had confidence issues when he was young and he worked on himself and speech issues and he now is able to confidently speak to anyone.
Hard part is coming up with people who might share my vision in a business.Yep, that's every hiring manager's frustration with human resources and recruiters, especially if they need someone in their team now.
