Just submitted my 4th (out of 4) project from this semester. Completely depleted. And it's not the end...

I had my last school exam today (not the finals, I'll be doing those in 2 years), which means that if I choose not to redo them, my holidays have unofficially started.😄

Training up for a 30 k+ charity run this summer. I can run a half-marathon, but those last 9 k. are a bitch. Currently doing a mixture of running and cycling.

I can't tell you how much I hate exams. Whenever I have to learn theory from big blocks of text, it's gonna take a while. I just can't do it properly. Can't even make myself start. Bores me to death. I love working on projects as part of my courses, I love solving problems, but plain old studying? How can some people get their law degrees???

Just opened my studio. Spent a few minutes there, fiddled around a bit and closed it. This has been pretty much the same for a couple of months now, and when it changes it's not much better, really.

I don't think I'm in love with it really anymore...or good enough. Haven't had fun producing for a while either. And every time my short studio session ends in a disappointment, I'm getting even more bored of it. It seems like a downward spiral, and I don't think it'll get good enough for me to actually want to learn more, try more, make more.

Yeah it is. But I've had this happen to me a couple of times, it's just that it feels progressively worse each time it happens. The thing is, I don't want to, and that's the big issue. It's not just writer's block, it's loss of motivation/drive on a deeper level.

I feel that if I'm not on the same level as some artists I respect, I shouldn't even do this. Not just regarding skills, but vision, creativity etc. I also can't really come here and say how modern trance is generic, then go open my DAW and make generic tracks.

I'll leave it for now, maybe this passes, maybe it doesn't.

Damn i would try to switch daws. i only use energyXT and Reaper these days, sometimes Tracktion 7. Maybe you are to comfortable with fl studio, so switching to something else might trigger something in your brain. Also watch FACTMagazines 'Against The Clock' series on Youtube. Producers only have 10 minutes to come up with something.

Going on a 3 week trip to Spain on Friday, excited for it! Though internet has always been a bit of a problem, so I'm not sure whether I can be online during that time.

Ugh, this annoys me quite a bit. Koda (danish company who, as far as I know, are administrating rights and licensing fees for artists) and Google/Youtube are having a fight over music rights. Youtube wants to pay almost 70% less than previously for each track played, meanwhile Koda obviously disagrees with this. After their existing agreement has been extended earlier this year and they didn't come up with a new agreement, Youtube has now chosen to block all "danish music" from being accessed by danes.
Personally I don't listen to a lot of danish music, so I thought this wouldn't affect me too much. But of course that's just not how stuff works. Instead they're now also blocking a bunch of international stuff (even some trance tracks and sets).

Of course there's one way to circumvent this - by the use of a VPN. So that's how I'm youtubing now.
But it kinda saddens me that this is even necessary. Hoping these things gets back to normal soon.
