Hell, Brazil
We all know them, same-y style on almost every track, similar presets, similar structures, but you still manage to get a kick (hah) out of their tracks.
Any examples? I'll start:
For me it could be all of early Above & Beyond but they have changed a lot over time so I'll stick with Aly & Fila. Others include Oliver Smith, ilan Bluestone.

Who's your go to for the "play safe" type of sound?

I think theres a difference between 'playing it safe' and just having your own unique style....theres nothing 'safe' in creating your own style thats different from all the generic artists out there. Digital Blonde is mentioned - but yet i can instantly tell one of his tracks - wheres 95% of other Trance producers i cant.

Not sure about it's playing safe, but for crafting your own style/sounds - Gabriel And Dresden, Cosmic Gate, Ben Böhmer, Lane 8, Rüfüs Du Sol and Andrew Bayer. Also not exactly all of them are trance artists and I can see the first two groups evolving in the last 2 years more towards melodic progressive.

Beatsole had a song last month that I almost immediately would of recognise since it feels so similar to one of my favourite songs from him - MIR.

Aly and Fila ofc and alongside most of their artist from FSOE.

We all know the guys who are mega predictable these days. A MEGA long list of uplifting artists.

I like Ferry Tale, really consistent and kind of closer to oldschool uplifting from 10+ years ago.

Solarstone and (un)fortunately a lot of Pure Trance artist under his wing. Don't get me wrong I like the label a lot these days, but it almost feels like Rich is coproducing most of the releases.

And the list goes on and on. After all, we all see that trance these days is getting a bit boring and predictable.

That's why releases like this from last week get me really excited, a proper try to go forward with trying something really different:

Hmm, I guess you are right. Maybe I worded myself the wrong way? But yeah, I was going on about that feeling specific artists have that make you instantly recognize them. I mean, in practice both options work :D.

John Askew. Don't mean in a nasty way at all. He found a sound that works and has stuck to it. And it's still amazing.

Playing it safe and having an own style should indeed be seen as something different.

If playing it safe means generic stuff that you still somehow like...

Then...

Can't think of anyone. There's the odd generic 138-track I like, but not a specific artist. Maybe I could say Andy Blueman. Always the same stuff, but he was at least good at it.

Tbh I do wish Activa and his label had more variety and with not everything sounding very similar. The only reason I am critical of that is because the label is so class I think it would easily reach next level by being a bit more experimental.

Paul Miller without a shadow of a doubt. Not the best producer in everyone's eye but his signature sound has always been ultra unique AF consistently in 98% of his tracks and remixes.

DB playing safe? I dunno man, his NEON stuff at 10-15 min tracks is not considered safe, by any means. The sound is very unique too. Dont agree with that at all. Same with YAMS. Did you hear his album this year? Whole bunch of different tracks and styles. I could get behind Thrillseekers and Activa.

Yeah i kind of missunderstood the question. What i mean is that these are the only producers who for me still have an instantly recognizable sound. You can easily here an Activa or Digital Blonde track even today.
