This place needs some 'Der Dritte Raum', definitely! Released in 1995 at the legendary Harthouse label!

Forgotten Taucher tune, the 'when did the light die' vocal sample is taken from Sinéad O'Connor - Troy. Released in 1993 at Crash Records.

I love me some 90's Trance!! Definitely there's a different feel from the stuff before 95 and the trance approaching the millennium. Used to spin the latter but was intrigued in the day by the former.

A little but of both in my timeline and list https://rateyourmusic.com/list/TheScientist/rym-ultimate-box-set-trance/

Why not some chronological best of playlists?

Grew up in San Francisco in the late 90's, where there was an explosion of raves and electronic parties. Hard trance was also referred to as Cybertrance, which I don't know if that's what we just called Hard Trance there. But a lot of local DJ's were playing music with a lot of TB-303 riffs, mixed in with the amazing and uplifting melodic trance from the late 90's. But I listened to lots of stuff from Noom Records and Time Unlimited. Commander Tom, Nostrum, Nuclear Hyde...literally were some of the coolest moments of my life going to those raves!

Instant Zen - Astral Community - Noom Records (1994)

Roughage - Scanned State - Time Unlimited (1995)

Yeah, there are so many great tracks in DDR or Harthouse back catalogue, if you like Aeolus, maybe will also like the track 'Brenner' from the same Ep, its my favourite on the release.

Here is another Harthouse tune with a different character, produced by Pete Namlook, released in 1992.

Pulsation - Transpulsation

Co-produced by Oliver Lieb, from 1993. Love everything about this track, the horn sound, breakbeat, synths, strings and the bass part in the middle.

I would not categorize 'Plastic Dreams' into Trance, but ok..

Here are some other atypical Trance tracks from the past:

Sunshower - Weekend Millionaire [Guerilla] (1994)

It's Thinking - Afterglow [Malgeto] (1992)

Axel Stephenson - Crossing Land (Bonzai) [1995]
