OUT Will Atkinson - Last King Of Scotland [Album] [Blackhole Recordings]

Had a proper listen to the album today, and my overall impression is that it lacks in cohesion. Sounds like a mishmash of half-baked ideas - some promising, some not so much. He's at his best when producing banging energetic trance, as evidenced by Rush and Kismet Energy which are two of the better tracks here. I can appreciate him trying out various types of styles within this album, but musically it is lacking.

That’s really quite disrespectful tbh. Watch at least one video from his album sessions and then say it’s a mish mash of ideas!

Telescope & Rush are the two standouts for me,great tracks.

The track with PvD is so bad it hurts. When the kick drops

Theres absolutely no subtlety or nuances in this track. The kick is horrible, the static rhythm of that pluck melody is awful and the mastering is crap.

You can only discern the synth and kick and in the middle you have the hats. This production style seem to never end.

Will can stick to his comics, tech-tunes and dj:ing. His "serious" tunes are always a mix of old samples and copying others, same as with noble six.

I genienly think Will is funny. His videos he post on Fb can be pretty hilarious.
