Honestly, I likely wouldn’t use AI generation if I were consistently receiving enough new music tailored exactly to my taste as a listener. Unfortunately, that’s just not happening. How often do you genuinely hear Progressive Trance featuring that characteristic, drawn-out bassline, or tracks with those shimmering, ‘twinkle’ melodies?
Hundreds of thousands of tracks are released daily, and while the music I seek might be buried among them, as a casual listener, I would have to sift through an absolute ton of mediocre content just to find one gem. This process is tedious, incredibly frustrating, and only creates a negative backdrop.
Meanwhile, the musicians I once followed have either stopped producing material at that high level or have succumbed to shallow trends. While I understand that from a marketing perspective, they are doing everything right, for me, as a simple consumer of music, their new output has devolved into low-quality, formulaic rubbish. I simply cannot connect with their current output or adapt to their new sound.
New musicians, in particular, aren’t creating the material I need. They already have different standards for a younger audience. At least, I don’t know any young progressive trance artists with the sound I’m interested in.
When AI generation wasn’t an option, I found solace simply by digging for old, unheard tracks in vintage radio shows and mixes. Now, I have the ability to create something myself even though I am not a musician. At least generation offers me a piece of the atmosphere and sound design I genuinely enjoy. Sometimes, truly interesting pieces emerge. This year, I created a track called ‘Into Tomorrow,’ and frankly, for me, it is the best track of the year. It’s rewarding to feel that my time was well spent on this. My musical demands aren’t extremely high the most important thing is that the music resonates deeply within my soul.

when you put it this way, AI is surely a great tool to satisfy the demand that doesn't meet what's offered on the scene. yet, once it's developed up to the level of the decent "signable" music you know that 9 out of 10 times it'll be used as a short cut for lazy/talentless producers.

if this danger would've faced the industry 20 years ago I'd be mad af but the current scene is already so full of shit so.. kinda whatever.

If this gets really advanced in years to come - and anyone can make a great track by pressing a button,it will kill the industry for me.

Its like cameras - back around 15 years ago, phone cameras were poor quality and the only way to produce great quality photos was to get a DLSR etc camera and spend some decent money on one (i did that)....nowadays everyone has near DLSR quality cameras in their pockets and can take great quality photos instantly with their phones. Theres no skill or talent in it....
The bassline is in on par dude. But the melody and those little bits here is something it misses the mark. That would be equivalent of letting an AI to play a piece by Mozart or Beethoven automatically. So there would be no point in purchasing a piano that can automatically play pieces. Someone who wants to learn the pieces does not have to go through the pain staking trips and mistakes and incorrect notes and failures and freezing during playing. What would be the point of that?

It might finally give a chance for listeners to provide more constructive feedback to producers to what they want to hear from producers. Rather than attacking their confidence by abusing them or cursing them.

You’re absolutely right, and I understand that too. Generating a truly strong, captivating melody and then developing it throughout the track is indeed a challenge with Udio’s current capabilities. I can’t speak for other genres, but in Trance music, it’s genuinely difficult and incomparable to what live musicians can achieve.
However, I have managed to capture some great musical phrases, like those found in ‘Little Fluffy Clouds,’ which I personally found impressive. But it also happens that I’m not a huge fan of overly complex melodic arrangements. Therefore, a simpler, catchy motif can easily grab my attention. For instance, one of my all-time favorite tracks is "Audioholics ‎– External Key", where the melody is built on just a few notes.
Or take, for example, "Constant Progress - Le Cygne Cristallin." I find this track incredibly beautiful and profound, even though its entire melody consists of a single loope. Similarly, "Ficta -Eli" still gives me chills whenever I hear it.
So yeah, I guess I’m drawn to these simple, repetitive patterns that most people would probably find boring
As Vin Diesel famously said, ‘It’s not what’s under the hood that matters, it’s what’s behind the wheel.’ I’d paraphrase that in music as: ‘It’s not how many notes are in the melody, but how it’s performed :ROFLMAO:

Fix the lead of that first track I have not heard the rest yet.
Do you mean the section from 3:13? It indeed sounds rather sharp. I actually had a few versions with a completely different continuation; maybe it’s worth redoing it )

Can you have those tracks finished in full WAV or 320 quality? Atm they sound around low quality 128 kps...
Yes and no. I cannot upload individual stems or the WAV version because I don’t use a subscription. However, if you have a subscription, you would be able to generate the WAV format and stems. If you’re interested, I could send you the links on how to download the tracks

Im not interested at all,im just wondering if a person could own the full WAV file then they could just release the track...these progressive trance tracks that were posted just now are pretty close to a pro track, the lines are blurring now...in a couple of years you wont be able to tell the difference...

If that’s what you mean, then yes, you can get the WAV format and individual tracks. This makes it much easier to work with the audio in music production software. I’m sure some people are already using this feature.
By the way, regarding sound quality, check out how good Suno’s latest version (version 5) sounds. They’ve really improved their trance music generation compared to earlier versions. The downside is that you still can’t make anything original, and you don’t get to control the melody structure like you can in Udio. Still, subjectively, it sounds nice
Here are some examples: Untitled (Extend) Untitled (Extend)

Man, that's sad sounds like they just fed it some tracks and it just spat out some derivative track. But saying that sounds better than anything I've heard JOOF play and this is something that feels like that would be played on ASOT lol

In the past, I could identify Suno’s trance music almost instantly. While version 5 offers some structural enhancements, its instruments and melodic style still make it recognizable. It’s unfortunate Udio isn’t progressing at the same pace. Suno’s success might stem from its user-friendliness and suitability for trending music, while Udio shines with its classic, old-school sound

What about this one?

It seems Udio is over... :sneaky:
Maybe it's because of this looks like they took a bribe from UMG under the table.

It seems UMG has simply crushed them with lawsuits. Apparently, Udio realized they couldn’t handle it and accepted a favorable offer to merge. In any case, the service will likely undergo a rebranding, and it won’t be the same Udio as before. They’ve already restricted downloading of generated materials from their site. So, we might have a few more months to play around with old Udio.

This is a reply I received. It sucks that we can no longer make stuff that sounds better than anything played on modern day asot or made by Armin van Buuren. Yes, you heard me right. The prompts that we asked AI were far far better than anything Armin has made in the past 15 years.

Hi there,

I'm Adam, the Head of Operations here (e.g., not Andrew, the CEO) but I guarantee you he's aware of how deeply frustrated and disappointed many folks in the community are. He's in our Reddit and Discord communities, so he knows.

I don't think there's anything else I (or he) can say that's going to change how you feel, other than I'm sorry and I genuinely wish you well on your musicmaking journey wherever that takes you.
