An early heads-up for anyone wanting to catch this performance by the son of the Monopoly Man on Saturday. I'm curious to see how many people he's trying to get to jump along with him. When he bounces backwards like so, I like to imagine Jim McDonald walking down from Parliament Buildings in his army fatigues, taking the safety catch off of his loaded M60.

I actually revisit this clip daily just to get pissed off. He sucks so bad it's almost criminal, son of Monopoly man hah

Edit: I actually looked up the full set. The opening floored me when you see his audience is two adults, a child and an old person in a wheelchair, who you see fleeing the scene soon after the music starts

I love how they didn't bother filming the audience in the latter half of the video. There probably was no one else.

I'm not against anyone performing in public spaces, but playing uptempo trance in the middle of the day in front of a parliament building just appears to be of poor taste. It screams attention-seeking.

Interesting to see that trance in public is considered "in poor taste." Not sure if we would have the same reaction if they had played hip hop or trap or something else.

Yeah its poor taste for sure. The majority of the public do not like Trance and thats understandable. It's so banging, loud, overly intense and often obnoxious. There's nothing palatable about it for the average person, especially when your'e just walking down the street trying to do some shopping.

Now, I have seen everything you can get a good workout by doing this multitask. I am just waiting for someone to do a DJ set from their bed or Toilet.

I honestly don't really have something against this concept, since I've always seen sets as just that: sets. The venue of the set doesn't really matter to me as long as the set is decent enough. Same thing works the other way around, if you can find comething creative like making the equipment water proof and then play at the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef that'd be very awesome, but if the set isn't any good I wouldn't be interested in the slightest. I can't deny that it's pretentious to an extent, but overall I just don't care that much.

Case in point: Yamato's sets. Does the same thing, but I just can't stop watching them. The NXS2 Demo performance is next level in my opinion.

this is just another one of those corny things that dj's/producers like to do now that I'll never understand. also it always makes me wonder where they plug they gear in

If Lieb or TDB did one everyone on this forum would wet themselves.
no they wouldn't, they would go:

"For the love of fucking God, not him on this cringe-band-wagon aswell please.."

or something along those lines..

Half the planet consumes music through YouTube and labels make more money on views and subscribers than track sales today. So now they need good video content for the algorithm and proper thumbnails and previews to attract views. A video with lame static label artwork is not gonna get as many views as video content, so the labels are forced to do this stuff and it’s relatively cheap. It’s all just a byproduct of the platform and how we consume. People like it anyway, I am indifferent.

I mean, I like the idea of DJing outdoors in natural environments. A lot of trance and similar music evokes such places for me. Busking in a public place can work too (at least as long as you're actually doing it for passersby). Everything beyond that is a cheap gimmick.
