Simon Gregory - Feedback / Luminosity [Anjunabeats]

Both of these sound really promising to me. Picking up A&B - Hello vibes mixed with Oliver Smith on both.

Smith & Pledger - Northern Lights (Oliver Smith’s 250 Mix) [Anjunabeats]

I'm listening to his 250 set again and honestly this would've made a much better debut album than what Footprints was.

Smith & Pledger - Northern Lights (Oliver Smith’s 250 Mix) [Anjunabeats]

I don't get why the label is still so stingy with releasing things in a timely manner, if at all. It's a good example of how the new(er) stuff doesn't work compared to their original mixes. On its own I think it's fine and even kind of nice, but then I realize that everything I like about it...

    Similar trance tracks & rip-offs

Not a ripoff, but interesting to hear different artists pull from the same samples & loops.

Above & Beyond - Anjunabeats vol. 17 (Compilation) [Anjunabeats]

I've grown to like these two as well; Solid tune from Anuqram who are apparently breaking up :V Feels like an unfinished sketch, but for what it is it's alright.

Simon Gregory - Keep Moving On / Sequential [Anjunabeats]

Already said it in the volume 17 thread, but Keep Moving On is easily my favourite from the comp. Really like that one! I don't have any qualms with Sequential, but I'm entirely indifferent to it.

Boards Of Canada - Inferno (Album) - your thoughts?

It's okay, not bad. Has it's highlights, but didn't have anything I absolutely loved like previous albums :( It's a bit too clean, too digital, too heavy handed in its themes, too straightforward, trying too hard to sound cinematic, and maybe even a bit dated*. But it's alright. *there's bits...

Above & Beyond - Anjunabeats vol. 17 (Compilation) [Anjunabeats]

This might be the worst Beats volume yet. There's nothing offensive here, but the entire thing just feels like dull filler. Not to mention the generic, commercial, stock, and repetitive vocals plastered over the entire comp. A&B's tracks being some of the most egregious here with dull sound and...

Nitrous Oxide & Simon Gregory Pres. Digital Drift - Flat Out [Enhanced Progressive]

Huh, I could do without the "soulful" vocal (or maybe a different one), and it is very trend follow-y, but I think I like it... Didn't like anything off of Enhanced Vol 9 on first listen last year, so I may have to go back and give it another try.

Carbon Based Lifeforms - Supersede (Geck-o Lost In Trance Remix)

^that's the 2015 remaster. Originally released in 2010

Super8 & Tab Feat. SØNIN - Black Is The New Yellow (Simon Gregory Remix) [Anjunabeats]

Saying it has a bit of 7 Skies' Sushi is an understatement. That's straight up Sushi. I'd call it less of a remix and more of an ad hoc mashup. It's fine, but it's not bring anything new to the table.

Kesha - Delusional (Armin van Buuren Club Remix) [Kesha Records]

It's not good, but I do find it interesting. I feel like it's taking cues from hyper pop.

    Oliver Smith - Nimbus/Tomahawk (2006)

The Anjunabeats Volume Six booklet said that Cirrus was originally going to accompany Nimbus, rather than Tomahawk I assume. It makes me wonder if there was an earlier version that was never broadcast because I always thought Cirrus was noticeably more "2008 proggy" compared to Nimbus. Still...

    Nitrous Oxide - Stardust [Anjunabeats]

It's solid. I do think it's tinged with the same preppy bouncy pseudo y2k revival sound that's being forced atm, but it's not too blatant here so no big deal. It's also not bringing anything new to the table in terms of sound design / sample selection. It's fine~

Tiësto - Bring Me To Life [Musical Freedom]

No one would care about this if it had another name attached to it. Same can be said about the majority of big name releases anyway. I've never understood the hype for Tiesto (or Armin). Everything I've heard from them never inclined me to check out more of their work.
