Cold Blue & Jan Johnston - Radar [Cold Blue Records]

JJ is my fav trance singer, and it's for two main reasons: - She has a lot more mature lyrics, not your standard cheesy fluff. - She has a very deep and soothing voice, and a unique rhythm that doesn't follow the traditional 4/4 for most of her bars. The instrumental is fine wine as well...

Ferry Tayle & Tonks - Vol De Nuit (Mirage 20th Anniversary Mix) [Black Hole Recordings]

Absolutely love Vol de Nuit - one of the most underrated tracks of the mid 2000s. It was done during a period where tech-trance and tech-lifting was taking over in the old Airwave-like sound was fading rapidly. Ferry was heavily influenced by Airwave (hence their Cape Town alias), and you can...

Signum & Liam Wilson - ID [TBA]

Melody def has that 90s UK sound to it from the snippets. Curious to hear a longer sample.

    John Askew - Rise [FSOE]

Ovnimoon - Galactic Mantra is one of the best intros ever to an electronic record.

Nu NRG - The Moon Loves The Sun (Sean Tyas Remix) [Armada Captivating]

Was totally not expecting that violin melody re-interpretation and breaks!! The original always had super cheesy vocals, so I have no issue whatsoever with them still being cheesy!! I think it's a sign of the period and that relates a lot with the simply massive lead sound Nu-NRG tracks had...

Activa - ID (VII Radio 099 opening) [TBA]

Brilliant composition. Yimanya influence is strong. For some reason, the track made me think of Jonas Steur, although that would be a strange artist to feature an ID from in a VII set. The melody in the break does sound like something Activa would do however. Curious to find out who's behind...

Horizons - Turkey EP: The Damned Spirits Of Mira / Bosphorus Nights [Landscapes Music]

The first track uses the same vocal sample as Neptune Project - Orenda, nice touch :P I get an early Armin circa 1999 vibe from the soundscape (mainly the undertones + kick) from the first track, and the second one even more so!

Lostly - Those Are The Moments [Musical Freedom]

Well I'll be damned, never thought I would see the day when a PVD-sounding track would be sign by Tiesto!! After 30+ years of listening to this genre, I still managed to get surprised. About the track itself - it's heavily inspired by Alone, which was my pick for TOTY last year. That says it all

Lostly - Blue / Recall [Mutant Disco]

The entire set is brilliant, loads of IDs and White Label remixes

Dutch Force - For Those Who Dare [High Contrast Recordings]

Rank 1, Estiva vs. Orkidea, Digital Blonde vs. Scott Bond, Sophie Sugar, Magnus (OK, we new he was working on an album for a few years now) Eco (same thing as for Magnus)

    Grant Trowbridge - Numinous [Subculture]

That breakdown makes me think of Jamie Walker releases on Defcon Recordings in his early days. Great acid work too, lovely.

    John Askew - November [VII?]

Whatever v32 sounds like, removing the psy kick was a good choice. Askew soundscape is just not made for that type of combo. Gimme an industrial kick or the good ol' PVD-replica from Discover days. No reason to fix something that's not broken.

Dutch Force - For Those Who Dare [High Contrast Recordings]

I wouldn't call it commercial - the vocals are weird I must say though, never a fan of auto-tune bar a few exceptions. The stutter edit is very well executed, it's been a staple of Rank 1 and the main lead is Dutch Anthem Trance enough. Having said that, that ID that's been floating around is a...

    Rank 1 - ID [TBA]

The underpinnings are very Rank 1. The lead needs more supersaw goodness in it, but given he did this in one day I'm sure it can easily be improved.
