Anti climax of the year. It was about an hour longer than necessary and spent too much time focusing on the characters, rather than the story itself. Amy Adams attempt at an English accent is also the worse fake accent I've heard since Christopher Lambert's attempt at a Scottish one in Highlander.
I am sorry you did not like it, I would not know about the accent of Amy Adams but in general the movie was too long, especially in the beginning. I did like the character and the acting of Christian Bale and the movie was quite enjoyable in general but lacking for a movie which was nominated for all those prizes.
I just found a fix for The Colony (2013)... Delete it, and all is well.

Awesome Spanish horror movie. Seen this a couple of times, but still gives me the creeps!
8/10.
Gravity. Sandra Bullock is a bit too good at playing a complete retard in full panic mode. I currently hate the movie mainly because of that. And because at the moment they let go of each other, the physics are all wrong and the whole letting go part wasn't necessary. Oh did I mention Sandra Bullock is playing a completely retarded panicking bitch? For fuck's sake, just ONCE breath through your nose.
But hey, the movie looks nice. I like the fetus part.

I watched this at the cinema and there haven't been many movies on such a topic I've seen there. I mention because it can lose me a sense of immersion. Even so I'll admit I shed a tear or two at the end of this but that's because the movie is a tough watch. It's made deliberately so with a few scenes where the focus is uncomfortably long for effect. It verges in places on feeling forced but it is also refreshing for a movie to have the confidence to do so at times. I feel there was a little opportunity missed to flesh out the characters some more but then the focus is on memoirs not on fictional liberty.
The score from Zimmer is good but he's starting to feel a little boxed, it's not good when I'm reminded of Inception from the main theme when watching. Chiwetel Ejiofor & Michael Fassbender stood out amongst the cast, Brad Pitt was introduced midway through with a short role with his introduction jarring because of his large persona, with a little time he also integrated well.
Overall then a strong movie but for me not a classic. There is little wrong with the performances and it's a difficult movie well worth seeing, it just felt a little chained to me. The film is graphic and very raw but I felt there was scope for greater depth in emotion. Perhaps a subconcious desire was there for something more, but I felt character dialogue and scenes felt constrained at times. Perhaps a reflection of the main character Solomon's emotions.
