Last week I finished watching the prequel series of Serenity, Firefly, and I honestly thought it was the best sci-fi series I've ever seen. Not just the dynamic of the characters, but due to the amount of details and careful planning of the story. Unfortunately it was cancelled (Thanks FOX) after 1 season, but Joss Whedon got the exact same group together for one last attempt to close the many ends the series left open. Keeping in mind this is a 2 hour movie and not a 10 episode season, Joss did the very best he could with this and pretty much made one of my favorite sci-fi movies I've seen. Of course if you watch this first without watching the series it might seem like a cheap CGI, low budget sci-fi movie, so if you really want to enjoy this movie - watch the series first!Quote:

I've so far seen X-Men, 2, 3 and First Class - so I did watch it with some expectations, especially because of the director, Bryan Singer. Also the best Sci Fi series I've ever seen, you just fell in love with the characters and like you say the dynamic between them. Not just that but you genuinely sensed love from the cast for the roles they were playing and the experience. There seemed a sincere on screen bond which said they had fun.Quote:

Wow! What an amazing movie this was. If you like David Fincher his other movies, you're certainly going to love this one as well! Excellent acting by both Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. The story will definitely keeps you thinking till the very end. Loved it!

A movie of two halfs, the first with the drill seargant absolutely stealing the show. Much of the part being ad-libbed. The second the harsh realities of wartime. Come near the end the movie feels a little hollow and flat as an experience of war but it's more of a character study than it a war movie.

Actually a pretty well rounded movie that has a pretty good but what makes it so great and what works so well is the acting in this one works on so many levels. This one is a tearjerker for all the right reasons and has plenty of sad moments but overall I enjoyed it and I think it's a realistic look at teenagers.
