The possession theme has probably outstayed its welcome as of late, but this was a nice twist on it. However, i found the story to be rather shallow and some crucial questions were left unanswered - such as why Eric Bana's character was being harassed by these otherworldly demons in the first place. The acting was good and there was just enough gore and violence to keep my sadistic side happy ,but overall it was rather disappointing as a whole. 6/10

Director: David Fincher
Cast: Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgård, Steven Berkoff
IMDB Summary:
Talking about how good of a director David Fincher is shouldn't really take that much space. Fincher is, without a doubt, one of the best living directors - Se7en, Fight Club, The Social Network and this one (I know there are more). I have seen the swedish version and I think it is a great movie, so I was really looking forward to seeing this one - and I honestly think it is much better than the original, mostly because of Finchers dark way of telling a story. The score fits perfectly and I really think Craig and Mara did a superb job. This might actually be on of my favorite Fincher movies, just below Se7en and Zodiac.Quote:

I've just ordered tickets for the danish premiere for Gone Girl on October 23rd. Can't wait!

Might be going to see Gone Girl myself soon. I agree that Se7en and Girl With The Dragon Tattoo are great films. I watched Zodiac though and though it entertained I felt it was quite flat in some of the places it could have punched stronger and explored deeper.
Watched this myself last night. No discredit to Tom Cruise as he did a fine job but I really felt the role should have gone to someone 10-15 years younger. Then again I can't think of anybody else who would have pulled off the transformation as well from Rookie to someone so hardened. Emily Blunt did really well in the role too. I'm happy they spliced and refreshed it in the manner they did as there was so much room for making it dull and repetitive but thankfully they threw new scenes in at just the right times to keep things fresh. Not usually impressed by CGI but I have to say top marks for this movie.
A good movie and one I enjoyed, not sure I'd watch again but it's prompted me to give some time to his Cruise's back catalogue, still haven't seen Minority Report or Oblivion so was going to give time to them.
7.5 / 10 for me.
Wohoo, tickets for Gone Girl bought and ready for Thursday!
Watched How To Train Your Dragon 1 and 2 two days ago, will write my thoughts about them tomorrow :)
I was surprised how much I enjoyed this movie. I watched it on a flight and had fairly low expectations, but actually thought it has been one of the better action-sci-fi's from recent. If the film had been a little bit braver, less hollywood, it could have been a truly great film. I would have liked to see more focus on the potential emotional turmoil and horrifying results of reliving the same day 100's of times.

Director: David Fincher
Cast: Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Carrie Coon
Wow, this might actually be my favorite Fincher movie yet! I'm actually thinking about putting it side by side with Se7en. This was just one big mindfuck with so many details, twists and turns and what not. Rosamund Pike might possible deliver the best female acting I've seen in years. If you know Finchers sense for detail and dark atmosphere you know what to expect. Even the ending I enjoyed - not going to spoil anything!Quote:
