Don't like it. It's a bit cheesy. I think it could've worked better with an older, softer style.
Sounds confused and amateur-like. Next!
Step in the right direction sound wise, but the execution is mediocre. It's pretty boring.
This is definatly better than what MIKE has been making the last few years - the melody is going back to his roots somewhat,i like how it builds with the pads at the end. Could do with a faster paced version much more in the Push style of old. I like the melody a lot though.
About it sounding Amateur-ish - MIKE's productions have always been pretty simple, concerning the bass,snares/claps and progression. We are just used to listening to the complexity of Will Atkinson tracks now hehe. Both work though imo.
The melody is quite reminiscent of his older style, which is a step in the right direction. I think it would sound much better at 136-138 instead of the 132 BPM it now has however.
Yes i would pitch it up if i supported it.
It probably sounds amateurish not because it's simple, it's because of the over-used sound. M.I.K.E.'s productions were simple, but they were unique. And the bass was not simple. The bass was probably his strongest area; he just knew how to do it properly, whether it was just one layer or a lot of different bass sounds. Just listen to THIS. And I'm not just talking about his M.I.K.E. alias. Yes, in some productions the bass was really simple, but in a lot it was just amazing.
Actually, when you think about it, he really knew everything. Some of his productions had amazing bass, some had beautiful melodies, some just had amazing drums and percussions, some were just atmospheric, deep etc... One of the most diverse trance producers now that I think about it.
I think I know MIKE better than any other of his fans. Its NOT true that bass and kick isnt his strong point. Its actually his strongest...listen to Tranceformation or Univeraal Nation for example...that kick and bass would destroy any room :) Sometimes his tracks has so massive kick and bass that its unmixable to the next track...
The problem is that he is not producing the way as it used too...he needs to bring back his analog machines, instead of FL and all will be back!
this track has beatiful melody and amazing pads...i love it, it doesnt sound amateurish at all...it just needs a bit more power, maybe different kick and more BPM...but its Coldharbour and they wont let him to do it...
Sounds like sou kinda sayin' the opposite here. So is it MIKE who isn't producing the same way anymore or he wants to just Coldharbour doesn't let him (which is absurd tbh)? If it's the latter then someone should tell MIKE that there are plenty of other labels worth to try :)
I think he found a new home at Coldharbour, thats fine for his MIKE alias :) but he should release his Push and Plastic Boy stuff somewhere else...
I think its impossible to release an uplifting track on Coldharbour, since its not their style at all...
It has simple but nice melody. I agree that the bassline should be more powerful! If the tempo was faster it would be a proper MIKE/Push track.
Still don't understand why people relate so much to tempo when referring to trance.
To me this is more trancy and uplifting than most of 140 bpm stuff being put out lately.
Great percussion and synths and a nice haunting melody. One of his better tracks recently.
Yeah, vast, I find the tempo references to be pretty meaningless. In the worst cases, it's comments like "omg this isn't fast enough I would pitch it up like 6BPM." I have a feeling most people couldn't even figure out the BPM of a track without some new cute tool on their smartphone or another digital counter.
