Fermix's Virtual DJ Complete Guides - Second GUIDE: Preview ur track w/ normal Scard

    Hi.
This is Fermixx again from Argentina, doing some guides to use the features of Virtual DJ to have max performance.

Im gonna make this guide easy, coz is very similar to the first one. But maybe some of you dont understand the other guide, or it doesnt fix your problem.

    Lets start.

    1st: What we need.
. PC w/ a NORMAL soundcard, can be integrated (on-board) or a PCI one, its the same. Maybe old (very old) soundcards cant be used.
. Amps/speakers to connect directly to your Line Out.
. Headphones (to preview the track ur going to mix)
    . Keyboard, mouse and VDJ.

As you can see we dont need nothing special.

    2nd: Setting up VDJ.

We must select Headphones in the "Output" section.
Also you must select 4.1 Card or 2 Cards. If you dont have 2 soundcards (a waste of money - with one you can do this perfectly-) select 4.1 Card, its not necessary to have 4 plugs in the soundcard. I said NORMAL card, so w/ 3 plugs is fine.

note: gonna explain what to do w/ one and two cards in the next step, so if you are not sure of which soundcard you have to select, read the next step.

Then in "output channels" select or the first or the second option.
Let's select the first one, Front output --> Master
    Rear output ---> Headphones

    3rd: Setting up the computer.

note that the menus are in spanish, thats why im in Argentina

1st: open the volume configuration menu, or in the desktop or in control panel.
    2nd: go advanced
3rd: make sure that box is marked, if not mark it.

4th: what happens w/ our soundcard.
Now VDJ will work like this:
Your mix (i mean your master) will go trought the front output (the green plug that you normally use to plug the speakers), and your selected channel (or 1 or 2) will go trought the Line in (now has became an out instead), so here you will connect the headphones.

It doesnt matter the volume of each channel, when you select ch 1 or ch 2 you will hear (in the headphones) the music at max volume. This means that now you can preview the selected track (normally the one we are going to mix in).

A poor thing is that we CANT preview our samples (not sure if newers versions have this feature).

Well, hope this guide help new users to mix better w/ no special hardware (means cheap set up!)

    Cheers from Buenos Aires!

how many I/O does ur soundcard have?
maybe it has no 4.1 / 5.1 support. but it should be very old if it doesnt have that.
also, if the soundcard DOES support 5.1, it should have a software to set up it.

    what i recommend:
look behind the computer and tell me how many I/O does it have and/or purchase another pci souncard.
i spent 10 dollars in one.
and now, with 2 soundcards, i can run virtual dj with timecoded cds. and if i dont want to use timecoded cds, i can use 1 sc to preview my mixes.
