'Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety' - Benjamin Franklin

One of the most interesting aspects on this is: What would alien life look like? We usually see alien life as something which resembles life here on earth: Legs, arms, torso, head, eyes and such, even the aliens in Alien, Independence Day and so forth, aren't really that... impressive.
Life on other planets can be so vastly different than life here on Earth, that we can't even imagine how it would look like before seeing it.
Another aspect, which Neil actually spoke about in one of his interviews: We see an animal like a worm as something without a goal, no meaning, no intelligence and as something which shouldn't even be here. Maybe alien life is so technologically advanced and intelligent that we are to them as the worm is to us. Maybe they don't even recognize us as smart or anything, just like we don't see any meaning in worms.

the way i see it man, there IS life out there...all joking aside from my previous post, i think the odds are there...with the amount of known galaxies with each containing hundreds of billions of stars...and those stars having solar systems...then the next odd i suppose would be the distance from the host star would be crucial...
bottom line for me is this...if i had to put up my entire life's worth on whether life exists or not outside this planet or solar system, i would put my money on the fact that it indeed does just based off a few calcs i did...i would not even think twice...if we ever met i can go really deep into my theories and what i believe and all that but i won't type much here cuz i just don't have the time right now because...well...
i have to take a trip back to andromeda galaxy today...i left my ipod there and just cannot live without you hoomans' beautiful moozik![]()

i saw a show on this...they said it would depend on many factors, one is gravity...it would shape things...
just look at all of the different species of animals that exist on this planet alone and ones that are extinct...i forget the exact number but i read an article that said there were many species that existed that we'll never know about or something like that...wish i could find that article, VERY fascinating stuff!

Believe me, I'm not arguing there isn't life out there, I'm 99,9 % sure there is, but in all fairness: We don't know yet. Yes, there are billions of galaxies, each containing billions of starts and planets and so on and we have found a lot of exoplanets and maybe even liquid water on one of the moons of Jupiter, but we really don't know yet.
Of course there has to be life out there, if not, I mean... come on...

haha i know you're not arguing, was just giving my opinion as my last post was not meant to be serious at all (well those niggas @stormshadow and @Phael are still some bitch ass niggas but that's neither here nor there)...
anyway man hit me up on whataspp if you wanna have a discussion i can literally go on for an eternity on this subject...
i took a "trip" to outer space and learned quite a bit![]()

The thing about life is that it's not special. We see it as special, because it's us. But in all fairness, we're just another thing that happened in a universe in which a lot of stuff happens.
I think the question should not be "Is there life outside our planet" but "Is there consciousness outside our planet?". I marginally care if they find a worm on pluto, because a worm is not really aware of its own existence. Yeah it would be cool, but then you know something about conditions for life and all that but when talking about consciousness, that's on a whole different level of implications and meaning.

To be fair, so far life actually is rather special, or at least rare. I'm not saying humans are special, just read my latest post in the confession thread, but we haven't found anything outside our planet.
Of course it would be more exciting to find conscious life instead of a worm, but finding a worm or even a single celled organism on Mars, Pluto, Venus or whatever would be fantastic because then we would, with absolute certainty, know, life exists on other planets.
As stated before, I don't think humans are special in any sort of way, but life is - so far.

Here's the video I talked about:

What I mean to say is that from a different perspective, life is just another event. A rare one? Sure, but still. And that's my point, finding life is cool and all but they also found a very rare diamond planet around a wicked quasar a while back and that didn't make the news. But life would, just because we so happen to be life too and we consider it special. But I don't think a bacteria or a worm means anything. It just exists, like a rock just exists. But consciousness has a bunch of very special characteristics go a step beyond that. Awareness (of self and the universe), thought, wonder, asking the big "why?" etc.

I think that's because life itself is, as far as we know, rare. If it was the other way around and we knew life were on almost all other planets like Mars, Venus, the moons of Jupiter and all of the Exoplanets, but we had only found one diamond and then suddenly we found an entire planet around a quasar of diamonds, if would make greater news.
