wahahahaa you still remember his story?

by looking at the audiometry graph i get 30% less than the other healthy ear.
i hope it will not be a permanent damage, let's see next year after renewing my med check up.

Infection + high noise area (offshore) + DJing + loud trance music = deaf

well, at least it's part of the occupational hazards

Another question for all ya'll. I think i have got the CDJ 800s down as to how to beatmatch. For ex, if one is 136bpm and one's 135, if you go .7% or .75% it will move up 1 BPM. so bascially increments of .7 or .75 equals 1 bpm. Now here is the wierd thing. I have the beat perfectly beatmatched but when i bring the beat in it sounds like the beats on, then off, then on, then off OR lots of bass, no bass, lots of bass, no bass. But they are BEATmatched! Could it be because I'm running everything on Coax? Any ideas?

Same thing happens to me, not always but sometimes and I have yet to figure out why... If anyone has any explanation that would be grateful, thanks.

Same here, I was just recording and that happened. I notice it happening more when there is a harder bass kick and it kinda sounds like it skips a beat and hits again, than skips. Both of the songs are in beat and everything.

that is what i called beat/bass cancellation....i often got this during beatmathing & it was dull

while adjusting the pitch/jogwheel more will make it drift & offbeat i just kill the bass of incoming track. i use crossfader more than upfader, when it was at the middle slowly increase the bass & crossfade to the incoming track simultaneously. (in headphones it will sound the same like bass cancellation but if u hear on the monitor it's different)

huh, dunno how to explain better...........english is not my mothers tongue :P

@Ann... Yep thats the beat cancelation.. thats the same concept as the eletronic noise reduction uses... U send waves with the very same (or close frequences to chock agains the other... so they anulate each other... is like when u throw 2 rocks on the water at the same time... one infront of the other... the waves on water will chock and go to oposite ways... and some are going to pass thru each other...
In other words... thats all about physic... And I hate it... so...
Maybe the fade-in/fade-out... is more apropriated in this case cause you dont anulate the bass as they dont have interference on each other... the mix wont be a prime of art... but... its going to work

    Cheers!

I have a pair of Stanton tabletops cd players and I use alot the pitch adjuster for me its way easier that way. I dont look at the bpm cause I like to do it without it, I've been doing that since I started mixing and thats about 2 or 3 years back.

and yeah 1 minute is way too long for beatmach I usually do it in about 20-30secs.

lol its got nothing to do with any switch. Its already been mentioned but some of you may have missed it...

Sound is made up of waves. When the bass cancells what happens is you have it beatmatched in a way that the opposite bass soundwaves are perfectly in time.

    Kinda hard to explain...

song a has a waveform that looks like ----> ^

song b has a waveform that looks like ----> v

    therefore ^ + v = --

    Hope that kinda helps.

There's two ways to overcome this

    1) Dont overlap basslines - the louder one bassline is over the other the less noticable the bass cancellation will be

    2) Nudge the platter just a tad - this will place one bass line only slighty infront of the other so no cancellation occurs. IF done right the song will have bass but wont sound too out of time - it will sound weird like it wants to be out of time, but it wont be out of time.

    Hope this helps
