This is quite a big improvement & i highly doubt it would even be possible, but i think it would be really good if it was the go ahead.
How about having the forum as a side section to the site and having a small news / review section? Could give news updates to everything in the trance scene, reviews to the recent releases, ASOT / TATW playlists etc.
This has probably been suggested before & its quite a big move, but i thought i would put the idea out there
Well we sort have already got one of them, but 'news' to the scene we dont. Atm its all posted by members of the forum so the information about the trance scene is already here.
Are you asking to have all them in a separate section of their own?
That could be a good option maybe? A trance news section but im sure the mods will agree that the general discussions and music discussions is the right place for all that now.
Check out the Beach + Confectionery groups on TF, there not like others, there much more...

Your suggestion reminded me of Trance.nu straight from the off. I can see what you're aiming for but I don't see the section as particuarly necessary. Seeing most news and updates are either provided in sub sections. Like Reviews, Music Discussion and the Chillout section. Was just thinking, since we want the forum to grow, new members etc. This may be a way to attract more members, was just a thought
Theres many ideas like this, even among mods. But were all completely powerless to make such changes.
Nice idea.. brings in some quality discussions I guess.
yes, we've talked about this between us (mods) some time ago and we went further when sjagga represented for us a nice frindly form to be set as announcement in the front page but all of a sudden we stopped our discussions maybe because as rd said we as(mod and smod) don't have the power...
You all sound like Wesley would never accept any change to the site. I think its more like the opposite, that he definitely would appreciate help and new ideas. I think if you already come up with a cool concept that is easily realizable its cool
First, a seperate frontpage just draws traffic away from the forums. Thats why we prefer modifying the main index instead, it gets much more traffic and its also easier to realise. Other ideas are also floating around.
Second, ive offered to do it myself a couple times, but as you can see it hasnt happened. Wes doesnt hand out control over the forums (for various reasons, for example the issue with downloads in the past).
You could though have the forum on the front page but just to the side slightly & a link to openthe forum up fully.
Good news though that you guys have / are discussing other possible ideas to improve the site

I think the main problem is we don't have any other technical people around with knowledge of PHP and HTML to make such changes.
Another problem is that I'm not sure if we have people who are willing to post/translate/rewrite news - simply copying from sites such as trance.nu is not really it I think.
I do like the idea of some sort of sidebar or section where sections of the forum such as reviews are syndicated.. but this does require some programming work :<
Would like to just bump this one again as I still reckon its a great idea + as you can it sort of has the backing of the admin. No way to make this happen?
Im still convinced this would be the way forward for the site to get new active members, a new place rather than the same old for trance fans to get the latest in the scene.
