My mother had inserted a belief in my head, great woman, that there was only one noble way make money is to be a doctor, I had to be a doctor. Well I didn’t want to be a doctor because that would’ve taken 10 years so I thought being a dentist would be pretty good. I’d make a lot of money and be a pillar of the community. So I went to Dental School and on the first day I walked in, I’ll never forget this. There were a 105 kids sitting in the dental auditorium. The Dean’s in the front, this grey haired guy and he says: “I want to welcome you all to the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. You should be very proud that you’ve come this far and you’ll do great things with your life, being a dentist.” It all sounded pretty good. Then he says “Let me say this. The golden age of dentistry is over. If you’re here to make a lot of money, you’re probably in the wrong place.” And I’m like “What the fuck, I’m in the wrong place!” so I stood up and I walked away. Dropped out of Dental School on my first day.
