John 00 Fleming and The Digital Blonde (00.db) - Oxygene [J00F]

JOHN 00 FLEMING & THE DIGITAL BLONDE (00.db)
    ‘OXYGENE’
    (JOOF RECORDINGS)

Redesigning Jean Michel Jarre’s iconic, electronic classic ‘Oxygene’ would be a daunting job for many producers but hearing that the great man himself loves the result is the stuff of dreams.

Production team John 00 Fleming and The Digital Blonde (00.db) join forces once again and bring the track crashing in to 2009 with two mixes. The Club mix stays true to JMJ’s original whilst the Dub mix strips things back for more serious dancefloors.

“Myself and The Digital Blonde have both looked up at JMJ in our careers,”
explains John Fleming. “He was the one responsible for getting us both into electronic dance music and I was fascinated by synthesizers due to JMJ. His original is in a very slow tempo so speeding it up was a very difficult task and technically difficult. We spent over two weeks alone recreating the sounds as we wanted to keep them as true to the original as we could. Then of course we needed to bring things up to date by adding dance beats and modern rudiments.”

Alongside positive reactions from clubbers, 00.db has also been given the thumbs up by Jean Michel Jarre and his team:
Your version truly does respect the original melody and chord progression in the original track yet gives it a total modern trance theme that hides the fact that the original is over 30 years old. This is testament both to Jean Michel Jarre and your creativity and vision in making this track feel like a modern classic.”

The complete package also features a remix from Astral Projection who provide a serious slab of pure trance and Solarstone puts his heart and soul into a remix which cements his reputation as one of the finest producers on this planet. Anton Chernikov and Miika Kuisma also step up with down-tempo Progressive house remixes.

“The reaction to our version of ‘Oxygene’ has blown me away,”
beams John. “Having Jean Michel Jarre contact us to give his blessing to the release was fantastic but it’s also amazing watching to watch all age groups singing along to the main melody in the clubs - it’s instantly recognisable!”

They know how to make a great hard-rolling bassline. Track's sounding really good, but it's definitely not as great as NIN... which I guess will never be released, being a bootleg.
