    How to make professional edits?

Can someone guide me in trying to create cuts or edits for certain tracks. Cue points are handy, but they don't always work. Some genius must know how to weld together some different parts of a track and merge them into one.

I'm a complete n00b when it comes to producing so let me know all the tools.

    Gracias.

Basically, make a shorter version of tracks for livesets.

Just chop them in Ableton, Mixmeister or the likes. If I'm editing a track for mixing I usually take the first 4 bars off, and have that first beat after the chop as my cue point. There's really no rules to it, its all personal taste. Just dont be chopping mid bar.
    May Mix

You can do that with any audio editing program.

Audacity is free. I personally use Wavelab, because I find that one easy to use for making edits.

having cue points it's a better way to do this just my advice, some tracks have very long intros other doesn't if you want just to mix 16 bars and then cue it it can sound very harsh with some tracks, but on topic. I'd recommend you ableton or any other daw for this, mixmeister works too but it's not designed to cut the tracks with the proper accuracy.

My humble opinion is that trance djsets should be long sets that represent a musical journey and put the listener into a trance state.
The day somebody tells me why people like djs that edit away parts of tracks just to fit more tracks in a set, I will understand more why my desire to attend trance festivals and parties is decreasing by the hour.
    thanx
