La piovra which means octopus is with series:

Old movie the most realistic how mafia use to be. The Octopus which has many hands and now their new generation are in politics. Like berlusoni and friends.

I actually thought the mafia had as good as disbanded, but it seems they are still going about their businees in Italy. I doubt they are as traditonal as they used to be, but equally as brutal by the sounds of things.

The mafia in Italy and Europe exist today and has quiet influence from Italy they never left in Europe and they still there but behind different things.
In italy, there just was in scandal for toxic garbage in Napoli:

There is Ndrangheta and Camorrah that exist today. They made a movie in 2008 about today Camorrah and actually won Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008 among few others:

Italy was always divided. South remained always with problem always corrupted and had poor development in core structure doesn't match up with the rest of Italy. Despite the superficial touch ups and developing the tourism so many things remain the same.

That looks as if it could be a good film. Thanks for the suggestion, I'm going to track that down.
