Alright, the movie is watched, and if she actually wrote it (or took part in it), she really is talented. Although my opinion is biased. The movie is great, refreshing and different. The acting is nice, the storyline is good, and the 92 minutes passed quite fast. While I was watching it, some theories about the Earth 2 popped into my head, since recently I started taking great interest into the Universe, space and time, astrophysics in general.

Maybe something I'd watch again, but just once more.

    *SPOILER ALERT*
The ending was quite unexpected and strange. But then again, 2 Brit Marlings...

The other movie I watched recently is The Departed (2006). Astonishing performances from the main actors. There is not one scene there that I consider boring. It is consistent for as long as it lasts. If someone hasn't watched it, I suggest that person to do so.

Agreed, it has a nice indie vibe causing it to feel quite different en refreshing. The other films are like that too so great if you're into it

    Atonement [2007]

    IMDB Rating: 7.8
    Director: Joe Wright
Cast: Keira Knightley, James McAvoy, Brenda Blethyn, Saoirse Ronan, Benedict Cumberbatch

    IMDB Summary:
Fledgling writer Briony Tallis, as a 13-year-old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister's lover of a crime he did not commit. Based on the British romance novel by Ian McEwan.
I remember wanting to watch this the year it came out, but never got the chance to do it. Recently I bought it on blu-ray and gave it a chance - I honestly think this is one of the best movies I've watched in a year. It's a sad story about love, betrayal, a lie and the consequences which follows.
The cinematography and instruction is near flawless and I love the soundtrack. It did a very good job at presenting the right atmosphere and age (1935). Kiera Knightley does a great job, but James McAvoy is absolutely brilliant!
It was interesting to watch how everything turned out and how we got to see each situation from different angles and perspectives.
I thought it would be a love story with a little edge, but it turned out to be so much love - I absolutely recommend this!

    8/10

    Snowpiercer [2013]

    IMDB Rating: 7.0
    Director: Joon-ho Bong
Cast: Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, Kang-ho Song

    IMDB Summary:
Set in a future where a failed climate-change experiment kills all life on the planet except for a lucky few who boarded the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe, where a class system emerges.
Snowpiercer is a very well directed movie with great cinematography and use of light. Chris Evans plays a young soon-to-be leader of a group of people trying to survive on a moving train. The premise is very original and is definitely what keeps the movie going.
Because it is all happening in a moving train the space is narrow and the people are many. A consequence of that is that it do become pretty messy at times and sometimes the story do feel quite all-over-the-place. The ending is very controversial and I don't think many will like it as much as the journey towards it.

It definitely was cool and original! I just feel it was a bit messy. But I would still recommend it.

    Fury!

Nice movie, bit one-dimensional story but if you like war movies, then it's a nice one.

Really good with some superb directing. Can't really fault anything of the movie and it also provided some thought-provoking stuff if you looked a littler deeper. The acting was of course top quality, but my girlfriend thought that sometimes it was over-acting at parts, and i'm inclined to agree. Overall a really good watch though.

Side note - The film sweeped up at the oscars, but notably the 'best film award'. It probably deserved this compared to the other nominees, but realistically this film is a solid 8/10 movie and no more. It says a lot about the quality (or lack of) of hollywood at the moment. Not much competition and the best of the best is not actually that groundbreaking or mind-blowing.

I honestly thought it was piss to put it bluntly. How it cleared up ahead of the likes of Boyhood - a film that was made over 12 years - at the Oscars is beyond me, but then again the Oscars are chosen by a bunch of pretentious wankers.

I found it to be incredibly slow moving and as I previously said, overly pretentious - with its long single shot takes and that constant atmospheric drumming. There seemed to be a lot of inside jokes too. Possibly aimed at people within the arts and theatre industry? The storyline just wasn't interesting enough to maintain my attention or appreciation. It was like they were writing the scenes between takes and the film was laughing at people like me, rather than me laughing at it. It was supposed to be a black 'comedy' after all. On a more positive note; it was unconventional, unique and the acting was superb, but personally i felt like it was 2 hours of my life wasted.
