I don't think it's merely the fault of the coach though, I think it's been down to:

- Not enough time given for players to acclimatise to the league
- bad / ineffectual man management (E.g. AVB with big egos, Chelsea players & Adebayor for instance)
- Poor tactics with given personel. Tim Sherwood played Siggy in a midfield 2 against Manchester City ... AVB playing Dawson in a high line!
- Bad player recruitment policy, too many in one window. Showing no solid ethos or real cohesion from the top. A scattergun approach to good deals is chaos for management, it brings about ineffectual results.

Effective coaching and a good manager will influence the latter 3, the first will be somewhat remedied by a years experience in the league.
Out of interest, who do you think those key players are? Regardless of you answer, I wont argue. I'm just interested to know - particularly from a fan of the club - which of the current squad you feel has that quality and potential to guide Tottenham to greater heights. Don't get me wrong, I rate many of Tottenham's players; Eriksen, Townsend and Lennon to name a few, but I feel that they're lacking in those core values. Like you say, though, maybe a good manager will bring those qualities out.
