    Classics sub section

    Hola!

I would like to raise my voice again and share my wish for a classics sub section. Would it be possible to add that?

The upcoming releases section is a big success here as it's possible to discuss single tracks. When doing a poll the other day on a FB page I manage and asked how many years people were listening to trance the big majority indicated 10+ years. This gives me the feeling that people will enjoy to bring up the sentiments of the good old days and discuss tracks seperate per thread. The same is happening in the Coldharbour appreciation thread now I believe.

Maybe we could require a prefix where people add the release date of the track so when ordering the section you get some kind of timeline of tracks... would be fun and easy to browse to a specific age of trance.

I believe TranceFix should respect the history of Trance and have a seperate (sub)section where we can discuss these believed classics.

I volunteer for bringing back classic of the day! I'd do at least 1 CLHR style track every week, 3-4 uplifting, 2 requests from members or something like that.

You're all welcome to post in that section and discuss away! I'm not so sure what it is that you're asking, that can't be done in the already existing classics section, which I linked to earlier?

Regular members can't create topics in that section...

Plus the current section seems to have a specific goal of posting one classic per day? And it's also not placed inside the music discussion section?

This is the reason that other classic relation thread are currently posted outside that section. Or should all classic related threads be posted inside that section? Or just one here, one there... who cares? :P It's a bit confusing to me currently.

One main section for classics could be more clear and easier to collect all classics related threads?

i really like this idea and i think its worth a shot, i would really like to discover more gems from classic trance as it wasnt that easy back in the day and i am sure there are many brilliant tracks just to be discovered.

Currently they are mainly discussed in those posts made in music discussion, but its not organized and very hectic

I'm still not sure about this. I understand what you say, I'm just not sure there's a high enough demand for this to have its own dedicated subforum. We already have plenty of threads in which classics are discussed, such as the "trance classics from 2003" etc.

I think it's time to bump this discussion a bit.

I noticed the classic of the day subforum is almost dead.... trying to post something in there a bit more regularly, but I see there are barely no views and replies on the topics I create. Imho we should boost this section moar, or shut it down... but this way it's just a dead corner on the forumz.

Maybe @Wesley @Puppetmaster @PegaSus @Sunshine @J4mie and @badass have some creative input to boost this one more?

Classic of the day ist working really, I still do believe TF should have a general classics section as I suggested, and move all classics related threads there. That will invite members more easily to be ative in those threads as now often they are hidden on page xx. Why not giving it a try? Can only get better :-)

Aight... how could we get more views?

    • Adding the year number into the thread title
    • Adding the label, year number and discogs link into the post
    • Posting every new thread to TF's twitter (and also Facebook maybe) including a hashtag like #tranceclassics or #classicoftheday (I remember vBulletin supports RSS syndication, you can generate a link and paste that into twitterfeed.com)
    • Making the classic of the day appear on top of every page?

What if we start with a group of a few dedicated classics listeners and post a classic in the Classic of the day forum every day of the week?
For example: I will post on mondays, J4mie every tuesday etc. And then evaluate after a few weeks if it gets more lively?

Sounds great, in that way there'll be more variation in the sort of posted trance classics. On the other hand I don't think it'll generate much more views than we have now. But I'm deffo in for trying!
