How to become big in current EDM scene.
Have you ever wanted to be a superstar DJ as quick as possible? Fame, money, hot girls and millions of fans? Look no further! This special guide will show you step by step how to become one.
Step 1.
First of all, you need to choose which style of music you want to produce and play. I will make this very simple for you. There are only two routes that you can go: Avicii/Alesso, or Showtek/W&W style. It only depends if you prefer candy sweet melodies or maybe something a little bit harder with a bass drop. There is absolutely no point in being creative and original, most people don’t want to hear other genres of EDM anyway (actually Dubstep and Trap is still acceptable).
Step 2.
Now it’s time to learn how to produce and dj. OK I was just kidding… ain’t nobody got time for that. Just hire a ghost producer that will do tracks for you. Keep everything simple as possible. Melodies can’t be too complex and drops can consist of max 3 sounds. We don’t want people to use their brains too much or feel emotions. They only need to hear bass and melody that is very easy to hum later on. As for the djing, don’t worry about it. Nowadays we have amazing technology that will make it easy for you, but if you are lazy you can always play prerecorded sets, no one will notice.
PS. If you are really ambitious and decide to do tracks on your own then well… good luck and maybe see you in few years.
Step 3.
At this point you should have some plans regarding your career. Maybe even your first track released and manager taking care of your stuff. You’ve been playing gigs for a while and still 100 fans on Facebook? Time to do promotion ! It doesn’t matter how shitty music you or your ghost producer do. It’s all about creating a superstar image. I assume you already have all social media profiles. Let’s do a fan number boosting. The best and fastest way is to buy them. For example, you want to go from 100 followers to 100,000 on Twitter in one day? No problem. Who cares if they are fake? The number counts and you will look like a boss. Also make sure to take care of youtube and soundcloud plays. The last thing you need is a professional photo shoot showing how cool you are. Let’s go to step 4.
Step 4.
You managed to fool people and you are getting bigger and bigger now. You probably still play as a support act before the big guys but don’t worry you are getting there. Girls are throwing panties at you and you spray them with champagne. Everything is perfect. Remember, it’s not about music but performance. Make sure you jump a lot, do heart shapes, crowd surfing and other crazy stuff. From time to time use microphone to tell people to “raise their hands up”, “make some noise” or scream other shit. They will love you. Soon you can start giving ridiculous demands in your rider, like 20 bottles of wine and vodka, 48 beers, 6 nutellas, giant teddy bear, 100 balloons, cakes and so on. Ok, we just need few more big gigs in USA, next radio hit vocal single that people will sing, maybe a scandal that everyone will talk about and….
Step 5.
Congratulations, you are the A-List DJ right now. You create trends and teach younger generation how “wonderful” and “diverse” mainstream EDM is today. Good job!

Taking the irony out of it, it's pretty much the truth unfortunately..

Unfortunately so true!... I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to be in a profession where this logic is supported and praised while true creativity and integrity are left on the sideline. Still, everything moves in circles and eventually things will flip around (I hope).

Lol it really made me laugh, so funny but sad at the same time.
Screw #TranceFamily, screw TrashBerlin, screw the heart hands, screw all the cheese music that shouldnt be attempting to the glory of Trance.LONG LIVE TO REAL TRANCE!!!

Excellent from Arctic Moon. He's firmally hit the nail on the head.
Now, let me see, how do i forward this to Steve Aoki?
May Mix

Struggling to keep my mouth shut.. grrr. Anyway much frustrating but nothing new really right? Thinking of Tiesto etc. Still we all do respect him, at least many of us.
I always think: would the music with other people made for Tiesto be made without Tiesto as well? Probably not. So indeed it's shameless to 'sell' music under a 'false' name.. but nothing is really 'real' in this world anymore.

story of pop-music? nothing new here, change EDM to hip-hop and you will get the 00s story, to euro-dance and you will get the 90s story, pop-rock and you get the 80s etc.
Pop-music is all about following the trends and making very simple music which sounds similar to something which has been popular before (aka made money before)
Now its just EDM and trance as a style and part of EDM family is also influenced by it a bit, artists can either stay true to what they love and miss the moneytrain or hop on and get part of the pie. Soon this hype will be over and some other style will be completely ruined by the commericalism.

Hahaha, funny but true![]()

Ah come on, what a whiny little b*tch! "I really care about music very much and meanwhile I'm jealous of the popular guy, makes total sense!" Get a life already. Next up, Soundlift the sequel: "Arctic moon quits", "Arctic moon quits again", "Arctic moon is now done with it and quits!". Blablablabla...

I dont see what should be wrong with this article, all he does is pointing out the truth - or would anyone disagree with what he writes ?? Its an old hat for me aswell, but you should see many people still live in their dream-world of commercial-edm.
Avicii/Alessos music is absolutely nothing new, the idea to make simplminded dance music with cheesey melodies already existed in early 90s, all they do is to put this idea production-wise "up-to-date".

Mah... this is just what butthurt jaded old veterans want to hear.
First, where it that simple, we'd have 1000s of Aviciis, because you can be pretty much sure
there are A LOT of people doing just these steps. But it's not simple, nor easy, so we should stop making it look so.
There are 100 or so A List DJs in the world where millions struggle for their position. They must do something
different and/or better than anybody else. The image itself, that you can follow the steps to be successful, has done
more bad than anything else, because even if you ARE good, people still think you got it easy.
Second, this whole rant reads like: "oh look, I know how it works, but I choose not to do it. LOVE ME, or I will start practicing it!!!"
