Is it more humane to let poor people give birth to an unlimited amount of children under horrible circumstances then forcing them not to?

How would you force them, exactly?

Human overpopulation is very much an issue I agree, but I think it's pretty hard to 'solve'. Who (which nation(s)) would enforce a global one child population? What are the penalties for not complying? Even if you ignore the many moral complaints, I don't think this would work at all or is realistic, from a practical point of view.

I think raising awareness on the issue and spreading knowledge and availability of birth control is the most humane and easiest way to normalize the world population. Other than that I'm in favor of colonizing other (habitable) planets, though it could take a long while before that becomes viable.
