I've said this for years - but contraception is instrumental in reducing deaths and other arising problems in Africa. It wont happen over night or even years, but it will eventually make a recognisable impact and help them back to their feet.

Of course there are still other problems such as food shortages and lack of clean drinking water, but there is no point in supplying them with the relevant aid if they're are going to continue to overcrowd their homes with too many heads - so to speak. As even with this aid these resources will struggle to stretch to the means required of them. At least at the moment.
