First of all who is that guy, random troll or s.o who can be taken seriously ??

Well i certainly agree that comparing trance to classical music or jazz is complete nonsense, because its completely different type of music.

Nevertheless i also think the video is massive nonsense, because the actually message of it is "trance sucks, jazz & classical music are awesome -> so they are not comparable" instead of really pointing out why these are different types of music

Any type of music is restricted to certain rules, otherwise it wouldn't be possible to actually classify it. Trance-Music is restricted to its 4/4 beat rythm, Jazz & Classical Music arent restricted to any rythm, but they are restricted to certain set of instruments !!
=> Complaining about Trance Music because of its 4/4 beat makes as much sense as complaining about Violins in Classical Music

Couldn't agree more with you, although i have to mention that not all Trance is 4/4 beat, there are some breakbeat trance choons out there.

EDIT: I also find funny that he's exactly the same person who created a video about so-called 'music elitism', but he's actually acting like one big music elitist himself.

Well if you really generalize the genre, he has a point. Jazz and Classical are way more complex musically than any edm genre. But this guy is obviously extremely ignorant, It's pretty clear that his knowledge on trance and electronic music is close to 0. Even though most trance is very generic and simple, there are some very innovative and creative compositions as well.

The way he takes it way too seriously and personally and argues with teenagers in youtube, makes me feel like he's a very bitter guy who most probably can't even play any instrument himself.

Breakbeat is 4/4 too (Atleast most of it)

4/4 is a time signature, the bassdrum sequence has nothing to do with it.

actually, jazz/classical be more complex than edm genre is all about opinion. i can play the proper blues (stevie ray vaughan, etc) in a guitar (what is not THAT hard imo), and i can't produce a simply decent progressive track. he thinks that blues/classical is more complex? ok, its ok. but i can disagree.

Who stuck a Violin up his arse!! Totally unnecessary attack on Trance and poorly made points. It just came across as an arrogant and silly rant.

I was talking about musically. That's not really an opinnion but a fact, as there are a certain amount of musical techniques (like time signatures, syncopation and such http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossar...al_terminology) and if you count them a Jazz or Classical song will use more of them than a trance song.

I did not say anything about which is harder to compose. The production of a trance song is way more about technical studio work than actual writing of the piece. So it's way different.

God this guy is a total douche. I agree with some points he said, but the way he presents them makes me think he's a pretty big asshole
