It intrigues me how wondering about the world's end gets you to figure out what you really want in life. That's pretty huge I think.
I do not think the bolded part is true. Attitudes do shift when individuals become mindful of heir mortality but not always towards what you may think. So many are ego driven much if not all of the time that life often revolves around simply making ourselves comfortable, some strive to put themselves into a position of control in order to feel more so. All to wrap ourselves in a false sense of security. If we were given a week to fulfill our wants how many of them would be self serving & hedonistic? Many dream of a set of circumstances which they feel comfortable in but they're only ever transitory experiences. If we knew the world was going to end would we push for what we originally wanted in life or would we push for experiences which simply appeal to the egos need for comfort & security, experiences which distract if those things could not be sought in time. Many would simply seek to fulfill whatever hopes and wishes they can within that timeframe. How hedonistic would many become in that space of time do you think? The world is going to end in a week, why do anything else?

We're all born with nothing and we all die the same, on that basis isn't what we leave behind for others of upmost importance? Once accepted in our minds but more importantly our hearts we can escape the selfish scope we're too often trapped by. If the world was going to end in a week even that would drift into meaningless however.

What I want in life & what I enjoy doing are different things, I enjoy a very simple life. Of course I have my own bindings, likes and dislikes but I've absolved many of them so I am no longer like a bull in a china shop mentally but slow steering (sometimes going the wrong way). But i've calmer waters in which I can set direction now.

The things 'I' want in life go way beyong me & extend to others. Yes it would please me but I won't be around to enjoy the results, I could die knowing the input I had made the world better not worse. An ego affirmation in itself but without some sort I would have no drive in life. Life would truly be meaningless & directionless along with my existence. I think all beings need something more and that is mine.

What I want cannot be brought about in a timely manner, but only through a shift of attitudes. Only through giving of my time & energy, along with many others doing the same can I see what I want. No amount of money can bring about these changes, investment can happen but but ultimately it is an obstacle which both binds and blinds. It is a barrier which ultimately must be overcome by simply letting go of.

I want the simplest of things and the sad thing is, if I took a public stage, expressed what I hoped and wished for I would be seen as an enemy of the state because the world is run by people with vested interests. They often proclaim they have the same goals but they do not understand the means by which they hope to accomplish them exclude them from the end.

They seek power and control but on what basis is it founded? The power nations have today really is illusory. When a man & mind have nothing to lose try controlling them.

    - I want a world where we promote sharing, not a society where we lock one another down, to see how we can control and profit from the process.
    - I want a world where we seek and push truth no matter what, even when it hurts us the most because only then is when we find the impetus to change ourselves.
    - I want a world where we focus on the means to better the ends, where we don't isolate ourselves from results which don't meet our hopes or expectations.
    - I want a world where everybody is a leader, where they look to themselves and are brave enough to take responsibility for what they put out into the world.

1 hour, 2 days, a week, 6 months. Dosn't matter how long I have I wont see those things. I can only enourage people to them with advocating mindfulness, starting with myself.

Does life end when you achieve all you want? It doesn't happen does it, the mind simply spins again onto a new want. A want based on what? I end with a question.

If you could achieve everything you could possibly want in an instant? What happens next in life?
