Kim Dotcom is rapidly moving towards encryption for good reason. He's thinking ahead, if we lose the battle on privacy we can at least make the task of surveillance much more difficult or out of reach without excessive resources. I watched the vid and the key exchange within the video for me is taken from 42:30 - 43:02.
The response is not rational nor proportional. Ask yourself who you feel most terrorised by now? The spend on terror is for control, over you & I. They've instilled irrational levels of fear into us so that we waive our rights away. People need to be brave, see the threat for what it is and say no. Some things you shouldnt given up. Tell them that questionable ends do not justify damaging means.
If we continue on course I forsee a day where encryption is deemed illegal, I am deadly serious about that.
People need to think individually on what they deem right and wrong and to be willing to stand up for them. It doesn't matter if you've got nothing to hide you have a right to privacy just like every other human being. What if the law changes in a manner to which you don't agree 30 years down the line? That backlog of information they have on you could soon tell them everything and count against you. Think beyond today, and fight for tomorrow.
