With all respect don't you think you've got a pretty negative view here ?? I think most people have better things to do than "nit picking" over genre defitions. If you take a look at history of trance music you will realize those discussions what trance is and what not have never been about "nit picking" but about seperating significantly different music by putting it into different genres.
Imo people don't mind it when you have different music in one genre to a certain degree because i don't think they are notorious "nit pickers" but when some popular DJ can come along and can pretty much take over a formerly well respected genre its clear that people get angry.
It's a minority, but a minority that still has an affect. I wouldn't call my view negative, but realistic. I'm no longer a moderator here but my time was enough to show me when opportunities open, some will take and abuse them.
