    Traktor on Linux?

Does anyone know if it's possible (possibly with Wine) to use Traktor on Linux? I don't like the system (and pricetag) of Apple's Macbooks, OS X is just not my cup of tea. Windows is for some reason just not able to properly work with Traktor it seems, unless you buy a €1500-ish device that properly copes with Windows' flaws (I have no idea what the exact problems are, I'm not that tech-savvy I'm afraid). Might as well buy O$ X then.

    Please help me out!

To solve any problem you have to identify cause, there is no point throwing money on a fire in blind hope that your problems will be solved by turning to software which may exhibit none, some, all or more problems.

My advice, go to the forums. You've paid for a product, there should be some kind of support available. If not take this as a lesson, think about where to devote your time & money.

As for Mac O$ X it like anything else has its problems, it isn't Linux, it draws its roots from BSD which are both Unix like operating systems. That's basically where the familiarity ends.

I don't have Traktor, I won't purchase it until I know what will properly work. I've worked with a trial, so to say, and friends of mine have it so that's how I know.

I know OS X isn't Linux, but I do know they are both very stable (Linux even more so than OS X, if done correctly). That's why I'm trying to figure out if I can run Traktor on a Linux device. Would save me a lot of money and I wouldn't have to go the OS X route.

Traktor is basically the way to go for what I want with mixing, there are no proper alternatives. And it's not a Traktor problem, since it'll work just fine on a Macbook. But as you may understand, I'd rather buy a good €600 laptop (without an OS), then put lovely Linux on there and use Traktor with that, than buy a €1300 laptop, paying for a system I'd rather not have and a brand I really don't care about.

I've no real experience using WINE & personally it's something I'd steer well away from. If others have got problems running it under a native environment then I wouldn't hold out much hope for putting it over another software layer.

I have no idea what your requirements are but check out http://www.mixxx.org/ to see if that fits your needs instead.
