I’m really disappointing….
Not by the fact that the artist was Dimension but because I was hoping that Ferry was back to trance witch his productions in the last 4-5 years (with a small exception of “Brute”) don’t have the passion that had before and are big rooms EDMs…. Never mind speaking about “Origami”, the track of course still remains a beauty and it is a great work by Dimension!!!

Wow, this many pages on the thread about fairly average uplifting track. So I will naturally make one more post.
I don't like this track all that much. But that's probably more about my own personal preferences because I just don't find this kind of trance all that interesting. I don't even listen to old Gouryella. But I understand why people enjoy this. This sound reminds about the time which has passed long time ago.

Flashover Indeed did it like they use to do in the 90´s, in two ways acutally. First of, the track does have a 99/00-atmosphere, maybe not my cup of tea but i can hear the resamblance of older tracks from that era. Second, this is how the majority of releases were marketed in the earlier days. Maybe one dj (Think Oakenfold or Pete Tong) was sent a exclusive promo, everyone started raving about it, making a hype, and the artist was revealed very late in the process, maybe even on the releaseday (A prime example is like System F- Ootb). Cudos to Flashover for getting back to the old ways
This leads to thinking about how tracks are marketed today. Many labels and producers puts non-released tracks on soundcloud and youtube months (even years) in advance. This is a total buzzkill imo. The interest somewhat dies of the day the track are released. Tracks have a lifespann on 2-3 weeks today and are at the end of the lifespann when it´s released.
I would like to have more ids to get the community start raving (not just because beloved artist are making comebacks) but to revert the scene a bit into how it was in the 90´s
Ico- Restless (Incl Remixes) Out on D.Max now!
Ico- Priya (Incl Remixes) Out soon on Diverted
Sterilis- Cosmic (Ico´s Big Bang Remix) Out soon on Only Trance Records

My opinion of this track needs a bit of a setting to it.
I only started listening to trance in 2012, so I'm not really cultured in the older sounds from the 90's and early 00's. I have obviously listened to a lot of classics though since becoming a trance fan and credit them for helping refine my taste in the genre to find new tracks that appeal to me.
However, I think because I didn't start listening to trance during its golden years, my preferences fall more towards the newer trance. I enjoy listening to classics now days, and I do really like them and I am sad that more recent works don't still capture a similar essence, but because I don't have the ability to reminisce of the days when they were 'new tracks', they don't have the same effect on me. The type of trance I enjoy, when I say I prefer the new stuff, is not the ASOT rubbish, but the kind of music that can offer something that encapsulates that pure trance feeling; for me, so far this year there have only been a very small number of tracks that have really caught my attention in that respect, one example is The Digital Blonde vs Simon Templar - The Wasteland (Pts 1 and 2).
Which brings me to my point. When I listen to Origami, I take it for what it is and I don't compare it to the older sounds of the 90's and early 00's, because I don't really have a point of reference. To be completely honesty, the only Gouryella track I have ever heard is 'Gouryella' (which is a great track) so when people talk about how this track reflected similar elements to the Gouryella sound, I couldn't really contribute in that respect as I only really know one track. I mentioned earlier in this thread that it would be cool if this was Gouryella, because I do enjoy tracks that capture similar sounds to earlier trance that I have heard and if it was to take a page out of that book, then I am all for it. This is probably the same reason I enjoy remixes of classics (more so than most do).
I think I can confidently say that I am able to take an objective view of this track (objective in the sense that I look at this as if there is not artist name - obviously my sound preferences are subjective), and to be honest, it's a nice track, but it's doesn't blow me away. Don't get me wrong, the plethora of positive comments that have filled this thread are completely justified, but for me, it's not something that grabs my attention. By the end of the year and probably even this week, this track will just be another song in my music library, I don't see it as something that is going to make my top 10 or even 20. I'm not an overly big fan of this 'happy' melody either (I prefer darker melodies).
That's just my 2 cents.

Top Classics:
Simon Patterson - Panic Attack
Hennes & Cold - The Second Trip (DJ Scot Project Remix)
Solarstone vs. Scott Bond - 3rd Earth
Tunes of the Year:
2012: Eco - The Storm
2013: Simon Patterson - Brush Strokes
2014: John Askew - Shine / Airwave & DJ Fire - Without Roots
2015: Simon Templar vs The Digital Blonde - The Wasteland
2016: The Digital Blonde - Two Angels Flying

I was'nt really that sold on it to begin with, to be honest, so hard for me to say. I would say though that I am for sure dissapointed. I was hoping that Ferry was making a switch towards Trance again and that some more Gouryella would come and maybe we'd get something really special later down the line.
If im straight up...my first and initial reaction would have been effected by the brand name of Gouryella and I would have liked the song less (or ignored it) if it was told me as Dimenson from the start. Whether thats right, wrong or stupid that's just how it is. It's a subconcious brand thing that effects 90% of us here in everyday life. I would bet that it influenced your opinion too. The excitement and hope of Ferry coming back, feeling nostalgia to old Gouryella, projecting the association you previously have of the passion and level of production Ferry gives to tracks.. You become influenced even if you don't realise.

Gotta say, fair play to Flashover for hyping this one up. Marketed perfectly. Almost like the vinyl days. Great tune. In my wallet regardless of the artist.
Trance fans can be a fickle bunch sometimes (me included). Problem is, we hold onto the past hoping one day for trance to come back with a bang like the 99/00 era. A bit like football fans who support a once successful club that are in reform.
However, it doesn't qualify for others to rip into people because they thought it was a sentimental release from Ferry, and label them stupid and clueless for airing their opinion. I also thought it was Ferry...so when Dimension was the name behind it, I was blown away because:
1. It wasn't a Ferry/Gouryella project
2. Dimension did an awesome job
3. Flashover teased and teased and done a Kaizer Soze
4. Made me look forward to what else they have in store
I salute Dimension for having the balls to create a track that sounds like this in a digital realm where other artists would now deem it "out of bounds" or say in promo sheets "I don't play this stuff anymore."
Thats just my 2 cents worth...
Plus, if people don't like Origami, they don't have to buy it!![]()

Why on earth does anyone still care about Ferry? He's made his choice, he's turned his back on trance. Fair play to him, but he's dead to me now. It's not like there's a lack of talented producers about.
