System F - Out Of The Blue [1999]

    Hey,

I may be blind because I haven't found any thread about this classic, but if I'm not, I'm just really surprised that no one discussed about this unforgettable classic.

Back then, 'Out Of The Blue' has been released by Ferry in 2000 on the label Tsunami, and then republished in 2010 under his own label Flashover Recordings. It has been remixed by plenties of artists, such has TiŽsto, Mauro Picotto, Showtek, Giuseppe Ottaviani, Stoneface & Terminal, Laidback Luke and much more.

This is the Original version that came out in 2000 :

Here is the "Original Violin Edit", which is the best version imo :

And this is the Official video of the song :

Do you like this track ? I personally can't get it out of my head since last week when it randomly came out in my playlist. Now I'm listening to it at least once a day (right now, this is already the 10th time yet today).

One of my favourites from that period! Such a happy and uplifting melody

I don't know why, but together with 'Gouryella' this is one of the most overrated trance tracks in my opinion. Maybe it's just a bit too uplifting for me, not sure haha.

One of the most recognisable melodies the genre has to offer but like most of the mainstream classics I'm not, nor have i ever been, much of a fan.

As with the Seven Cities topic, there's two mixes up there that I really love. The original and the Violin Edit

For a different, spacier vibe I often enjoy the DJ Commie remix too.

Really, really not into this track. Agree with Nangle and HugoHak here. Might've been big back in the day but I just can't really get into Ferry's works in general.

I feel the same way about Out of the Blue, but...

    Bypass - Cyberia
    Moonman - Galaxia
    Lovechild - Liberta (Moonman Remix)
    Albion - Air

are all very high quality trance tracks imo.

Punk and Rock Your Body Rock, although controversial at their time, were also highly innovative.

It could be a phase of yours. Ive been going through several of those through the years. I despised all things including the big saw melodies and slightly cheesy melodies. However its just about recognising its big impact. Theres not many tracks that sounds as this one and has this melody.

You should def give Out of The Blue the album a listen through sometime though. It really showcases ferrys diversity. Theres not much talk about that album these days, just this track has followed along through the times.

I don't know, I've never liked tracks like this, and a lot of Dutch trance of that era (including Tiesto, Tiesto's collab with Armin, Rank1 etc) was not something I was overly fond of. Especially the cheesy stuff.

I think my taste in trance has pretty much fully formed already. I still might not have discovered all of the styles, but I know what I'm looking for in music. But who knows...

Anyways, I was a bit wrong, especially since I liked some of Ferry's works, especially his collabs with Armin (From The Heart, Minack, Brute), and the EON track (Pocket Damage), which seems far ahead of its time.

It's not my favorite per se. It's a nice track. And I respect it's important history. It's a very fun track on the dancefloor.

What do you think of Ferry's electro-ish influence Gagi? Punk, Rock Your Body Rock, Right Of Way. That was quite a gamechanger as well. The first track specially.

And recently I'd say Magenta, with Giueseppe Ottaviani was a very good. And of course the Gouryella tracks.

Actually now that I type this... Ferry's quite consistent in delivering quality once in a while.
