    100% dance music.

but i don't listen to modern trance, as it's pants. but i still very much consider myself a trance head.

still listen to old school trance and progressive trance, there's even new progressive house that has a trance-tipped edge to it. listen to also progressive house, house, tech house, techno, acid.

More of a music-head, even though I admit I listen mostly to trance. There's a lot of non-dance music genres I listen to, such as rap, ambient, film/score... Considering trying jazz out, but don't know a good place to start.

A real 'trance head' is someone who gives back to the genre and artists. Someone who does not think twice about spending the last £2 in their bank account on a track they desire; Someone who queues outside nightclubs on cold winter nights for hours on end just to gain entry to that night's trance event. Someone who tirelessly sweats it out on the dancefloor from start to finish sharing their moments of elation with the random clubber next to them; Someone who gives every single kick, build, breakdown and drop their last ounce of energy - whether it is 5pm or 5am; Someone who spends countless hours travelling to European or transatlantic trance festivals or events while staying in the gloomiest back street hotels just to see their favourite artist'; A trance head is simply someone who relishes the genre and scene for what it is, regardless of who or what went before.

Sitting in your bedroom, office or studio downloading tracks, scrutinising production techniques and chord structures, reading Discogs from front-to-back, wrenching at the sound of other genres like many forum users do and generally presenting yourself in an overly-fastidious nature does not make you a trance head in my humble opinion, and I'm pretty sure I know which of the aforementioned criteria our favourite artists value more.

what you describe, is some sort of superfan. more obsessed with the celebrity than the music... probably the type of person who listens to the EDM bastardisation of trance and thinks it's legit.

a real trance head (or metal head or whatever) doesn't need to be seen as a massive try hard, no desperation, they just are immersed in the music on a day to day basis. whether that's sitting in their basement tweaking synthesizers or attending international events.

between festival goers and hipster joint attendees, somewhere in the middle is the real fan.

if what you are describing is a picture of yourself, then the irony is, you aren't even a trance head.

A real trancehead is someone who loves trance, clubbing nut... bedroom explorer... anything in between. If you love Trance, you love Trance...simple as that.

I have deep connections with many genres...but Trance will always be my number 1!

A superfan? We're not talking about someone who loiters about DJ booths wearing their favourite Armin van Buuren t-shirt, awaiting an autograph or photograph here. We're talking about someone who actively supports the genre where it really matters - the dancefloor. Savouring it in an environment with like-minded people at every available opportunity does not make you obsessed or desperate.

My standpoint is; You have shameless audacity to consider yourself a 'trance head' - of something as accessible as trance - having never embraced or supported it in the environment in which it was designed to flourish. You are to trance what armchair fans are football.

me personally? what the fuck do you know?

i don't go to trance nights because trance went down the toilet and left a horrible skid mark... its zombie corpse getting hijacked by sell outs using marketing ploys. i'll go see house and techno djs all night however.

just because a person attends clubs on a regular basis doesn't make them knowledgeable about the music... at all. in fact the vast majority of attendees wont be into the music in a hardcore way. most of them will be casual numptees, some with delusions, such as your good self

i'll pit my top 5 trance against yours ANY day of the week. it'll be embarrassing, and not for me.
