This and 'Free State - Different Ways' was my first touch to Jono and Paavo, and shortly after their remix to Madonna followed. I was just blown away by these tracks. The sounds and production quality back then was something I had never heard off and the melodies and overall feel is simply magical. 2001 for me represents perhaps the greatest era in trance music and a lot of it has to do with A&B. It's really shame how they went from trend setters and the #1 production group into followers and copiers of others. But when you gig as much as they do, you don't have the same time in the studio.

Rather than the original which is not bad i personally prefer the anjunadeep mix. One of their best works.
    Current Top 5!!!!

Agreed! Amazing dynamics and beautiful structure. This is Trance. That fader and baseline sounds like a real journey on a train.

The beginnings of A&B are one of the best examples of two producers coming together and merging their sound without changing much. The slapping kicks and the aggressive closed hats you hear in Paavo's solo remix of Brasstooth - Pleasure, and you can hear some early A&B melodies in Jono's remix of Strike - U Sure Do 99 and of Martha's Harbour. I'm on mobile so I can't really link, searching online should work (Soundcloud only for the first one, it's very very rare but it's constantly taken down by Brasstooth when it's uploaded).

Original version: Typical late 90s Trance sound
    Anjunadeep: Typical 2001-2002 Trance sound
    Remix: 2004 Trance sound

How they pulled all of that off in a single EP in 2000 is beyond me. Volume 1 is indeed at the intersection of several different Trance styles, both from before its time and after its time. If anyone wanted to know what Trance sounded at its heyday, just show them this EP -- it covers all from '99 to 2004.

Strange, they're up here. Must be a regional block of sorts. That alternative link is super sped up.

Are you from Japan? I bet it's a regional block. It hasn't been taken down.
