Hi there,
I was wondering whether someone might have an example of good trance DJs (not just local DJs) who are not also producers?
I'm asking thisquestions mainly because of the fact that the vast majority of today's DJs ale also well-known DJs, who systematically include in their sets a maximum amount of their own productions (original, remixes). I find this tendency honestly quite annoying for one simple fact: for artists that I like, I do not systematically appreciate all theirs productions. Often, it happens that I only like a limited number of tracks from an artist, so I find it extremely boring to almost only hear their tracks in their sets.
I personally think that the real DJ culture has been lost since already some time now, but I am sure there still are DJs out there who are really great at doing their job, that is selecting the best possible tracks to fit the mood of the audience.
I'm sure they still exists, but I can't think of any name off the top of my head right now so suggestions are more than welcome!
Thanks a lot and feel free to discuss this topic!
Cheers
Alpha

The only one i can think of is Eddie Halliwell (if you dont count the dreadfull attempt he did a couple of years ago)
Ico- Restless (Incl Remixes) Out on D.Max now!
Ico- Priya (Incl Remixes) Out soon on Diverted
Sterilis- Cosmic (Ico´s Big Bang Remix) Out soon on Only Trance Records

- Tiesto started as a DJ, he became a producer later.
- For me Markus Schulz is not a producer (I don't care he has tracks or albums under his name, he can't produce)
- Trance is really emotional music, people move to trance because of the feeling and that inspires them to produce. It's more common to find "producers only" than "dj only". It's completely different from house music (Cattaneo always says in his interviews that he has no fu**in idea about producing - but he knows how to build a perfect set).

Thanks, indeed this is a good example!
I had thought about Tiesto, he really was one of my faves back in the days, and I speak in terms of track selection and mixing skills
that's exactly what I was trying to explain. If additional names could be added to the list of trance artists that suit this description I would be very grateful!![]()

Does the Frenchman Mr Guetta fit either DJ or Producer? Or is David somethig else.

Matt Hardwick & Scott Bond never really produced on their own - but were involved in collabs.
