2017 Lp's worth listening to (any genre)

Been really bad at listening to lp's this year. I usually have a couple at the end of the year I can look back on.

What have you been checking out or what do you plan to check out or await?
Where is the music in todays "trance"?

In general, it seems like LP's are getting mostly irrelevant. I blame Internet age and ability to search and play pretty much any track within seconds. Going to a musical journey with LP just doesn't seem to be trendy.

This has affected on both quality and amount of releases IMO.

I think Bicep's self-titled debut has been my favorite album of the year so far.

LSG's new album? Took a listen to the first few tracks, it's incredible. But I think you listened to it.

Is it really? I think its more people/attitude related. Many people are addicts of music and social media without knowing it. Lp's and especially vinyl is in pretty big demand.

Its all very stressful I think. You are not going to enjoy more music because you have it for "free" 24/7. Its actually the opposite. And as you said it does affect quality of the music. The amount of "electronica" is just ridicously high with alot of it being blah where the tracks are just a collection of "new sounds". A musical sallad. Music to consume. There's less meaningful music. Way too much "producers" out there than musicians releasing music.

Well I think before masses bought LP's because of some certain track or two and hoped that the other tracks weren't horrible. This is something that is definitely gone in modern times.

However I would imagine that there would be demand for concept albums and LP's with some clear musical journey. You know, for the LP's that are more than just a sum of it's parts.

I have - I enjoy it, it's a bit more mellow than Lost In The Dream, but that's fine by me.
I'm currently listening to The National's new album and will most likely get it on vinyl because I have the other albums. I absolutely love The National!

Most vinyl's I buy are from movies and series as collections, but I haven't bought a single trance vinyl yet.

    Ye

Thanks for answering. I enjoyed it too but it didnt leave as strong of a impact on me as Lost In The Dream and their self titled. I think they overuse the m83 distorted guitar/ guitar pedal/effect sound a bit too much. It leaves the music being one-dimensional in some way.

Havn't listened to The National. I might try it out soon.

I think you made a wise decision not buying trance vinyls to be honest. Modern trance isnt worth buying on vinyl anyways. No wonder its not released on that format these days.

One I can definitely bring to mind: Lusine - Sensorimotor

Stumbled upon this guy on Google Play earlier this year. Beautiful swing-y, ambient IDM sound.
