But the comments that it is predictable or done before are nonsense!
I don't hear those comments in other genres.

For example: Everone loved the Backstreet Boys.... Then F5ve, then One Direction and Justin Bieber..... Nobody complained that they all make the same type of music
I never wanna hear you say, I want it that way!

Never liked one direction or justin mehber, and just googled five, never heard of them

Trance is really the only genre where I hear people moan about melodies!

    - In EDM everybody loves the same melodies.....
    - In House everybody loves the same melodies.....
    - In pop music everybody loves the same lyrics and melodies.....
    - in Rap music everybody loves the gun, jo jo lyrics....
I have to ask...what does "jo jo" mean lol

Seeing as he's referring to rap music, I'd imagine jo jo is "fuckin' awful ear cancer shite"

It's so nearly there! It feels like how Trance should be. BUT...still missing out on that stellar production that hits you from the first baseline/kick...like the old Ferry used to deliver about 2 times a month back in the day. Still lets not forget guys.... that only 4/5 years ago Ferry would never make or play stuff like this, he went full retard with his music (New World Punx anyone?), so it's good to see. Now it's only small steps, but steps none the less towards what many of us want. Get this stuff into the ears of the new-wave Trancers and maybe they will start recognizing and demanding more quality, instead of the faux-trance and EDM shite that bulldozed the genre.

@tranceclassics, what you think of the track?

I dont agree at all. Its far from nearly there. The production is noisy and no element sticks out and the melody itself is generic.

What I really miss is contrast in modern tracks. That was so good in old trance where the bassline was playing for itself but still fitted the rest of the track. Now theres not anything sticking out. I mean this is shit compared to this one.

1.min in. Where the fuck is the engaging basslines in modern trance? How the f can not ferry himself see this? The guy who championed this back in the day. Isnt he hearing its lacking in so many ways??

Listening to your two samples, youre basically wanting a bassline which is almost like another melody - those are very simple & easy to make, its just a low octave synth copying the sub notes, with some automation running through - but for some reason producers dont use that style anymore. Sometimes i think they interfere with the main melody at times - youre hearing the notes of the bassline just as strong as the melody notes. Certain tracks nailed it like Gouryella - Gouryella. Lange was great at it. I think producers nowadays are too concerned with getting their basslines 'pumping' for clubs they never opt for that sample of style you posted.

I think I was talking more about the content and idea behind the track fitting closer to what I consider essence of Trance, but as I said the production side is missing which you pointed out, so I agree with you there. Not the worst though is it?

@Magdelayna I like your explanation about the baseline and how it's like a melody. For me what you describe is... character! A baseline that can be memorable. If its as easy as you say it is, I wish more producers did it, because its leagues better than so much we get. But its not just having memorable 'melody' baseline... the old baselines also breathed and had space and they were also balanced with the dynamics of the rest of the track + creative percussion has pretty much vanished altogether imo

I do like the main melody and the vibe of the track here, but its either a really low quality upload or the production doesn't sound up to much. I think there's too much reverb/space type effect when it all comes together, the bassline as mentioned by others isn't great and everything just sounds a bit flat and dull IMO. There are certainly shades of classic Ferry in there, but it doesn't quite hit any real heights for me.

Certainly heard much much worse this year though. He's on the right tracks at least with this

Ferry keeping trance on track for me. Such a tune, and so refreshing to see this on number 1 beatport, instead of another over compressed templifter
