There is a breakbeat section (from 2:00) - but its missing the actual kick! Wouldve sounded much better if there was one there - not sure why its left out?!

It mustve taken quite a lot of work to get that vocal to fit into the groove of the bassline...nicely done.

It's a top, top release for me. It's been some time since i've heard such a distinctive proggy tune. I like the drop a lot - the vocal-bassline combination is spot on. Also I like how minimal the drop is, reintroducing the groove before the melodic progression with all the synths/pads kick back in towards the end.

Also in regards to how 'simple' the tune is, i don't see that's necessarily a bad thing. There's enough elements in there to deliver its musical message. Any more layers of detail might actually get in the way of the main focus of the track. And the 'breakbeat' section in the break, it's basically the kick drum that's been removed from the basic drum loop (with the snares and hats). Just a way to inject a bit more rhythm in the break, i don't think it was meant to explode into some exotic breakbeat frenzy as what some of you seemed to be expecting!

It wouldve made more of an impact and given the track more power if the kick drum was in there imo....its perfectly set up for it with the building synths. A strange decision for me. Still,a very good track.

We can agree to disagree here ;p

By withholding the kick, it makes the drop stronger in my opinion. It might not feel as complete at that particular moment in time, but on the other hand it adds a bit more tension as well - which again paves the way for the drop to resolve it.

Gave a few more listens and I actually really like the breakdown. I think hearing this live would be fantastic and got full appreciation for trying something different.

    Oh and also....loving the artwork.
Doesnt it have a off-beat breakbeat pattern going on like through the whole song? Its also slower, and it also has some oldschool electro/breaks styled sound to it. I almsot dont hear any kick for that matter aswell.

Is there only a 4 min version of this?

I dont hear that at all. Sounds like a simple 1,2,1,2,1,2 pattern. Nothing broken about the drum arrangements, it's exactly uniform.
