Our Spanish boy wonder DIM3NSION kick starts 2018 right where he left off in 2017. Agarimo is peak time trance anthem for the dancefloors with that typical DIM3NSION signature sound to it!

The exact the same pattern with the main lead in Origami, Mangata, Moments, Voorpret and now Agarimo. Feels like he's just loading up a template and changing a few things here and there.

I remember posting how I enjoyed Origami back at the time due to that old school Ferry type melody and a certain vibe that he'd partially recaptured, but I think he really needs to change things up a little more now.

Theres nothing wrong with the same style as long as the melodies are quality, which Ferry always used to achieve - but Dimension's melodies have got progressively worse and more unspectacular ever since Origami - a track im still sure Ferry helped him co-produce hehe.

It had that Ferry magic about it with the melody and also that spot Gouryella FX he used, makes me sure Ferry was in the studio with him.

After that Dimension has gone on his own,and just cant write the same standard of melody....

Oh yeah, and hes even run out of track title ideas - as Agarimo is almost a perfect anagram of Origami.

It goes like that when producers strives after bigger/better/disney-epic instead of different.

It all started with the orchestral style in 07.

In the end now it all feels like a wrong decision to hype the return of gouryella with origami. Couldnt that sound just had to stick to ferry?

    I like it.

I agree that the 'pattern' is all the same, and the melody isn't as strong as Origami, but I like it.
Not really something I will remember in the years to come, but for now, ah well, it's a cheeseburger, its ok haha

I think the production is great and I have a soft spot for this style. The melody is reaching a bit, it goes a bit random and some of the changes aren't the most musical, both in terms of chords and timing. The fact that the sound palette is almost identical to Origami does lower the artistic and practical value, might as well just listen to Origami which is musically far superior.

It's still more enjoyable than most stuff on the bigger trance labels. This copy-paste style is very reminiscent of the 90's follow ups to hit tracks, where the artists just took the original hit track and changed few chords here and there but basically used the exact same sounds and ideas again. Like Darude - Sandstorm / Feel the Beat, Barthezz - On the Move / Infected, ATB - 9PM / Don't Stop and so on..

Just that those tracks had more identity to begin with.

It's kinda good, actually. But I don't see myself listening to it often - not my style.

I agree that Dimension's old school style is starting to get a little stale. At the same time this is still enjoyable.

Forgettable. And he's got one of those "follow me on Twitter for low carb diet tips" faces on the cover.

Though on this particular image, it somehow reminds me of one of these zombie experiences that are aimed at students and workplace team-bonding.

Revisiting this again. I liked how the synths developed during the breakdown, but it became all too predictable and familiar when it got into the climax. Also i don't understand why he keeps the bassline so subdued in his tracks. I think a lot of dance music producers undervalue the importance of a bassline. It's not just there to provide energy but it can also serve as a counterpoint to the melody, adding that extra dimension to the track, especially in trance music where it's so repetitive.
