Surprised by me enjoying this. The main lead is a bit weak but the rest is ok.

I absolutely do not understand why would someone take a track made in 12/8 time signature and 85 BPM and turn it into 138 BPM 4/4 trance track.

I like how he's taking these 'classical' melodies and making them into Trance remakes like the excellent Two Trees - but sometimes they dont work, ive tried it myself, some parts of the chords just dont have any power in them as you can hear in sections of this - its very hard to get right.

Hans zimmer is an absolute king in creating, beautiful continuously building and evolving musical pieces. Chevaliers is one them. JoC managed to take out pretty much all of its beauty.

That's the issue of voicing. Just because the chord progression worked at lower BPM does not mean it will work in higher BPM.

Two Trees melody worked wonders mostly because it's a piano riff while Chevaliers gets its strength from soft vibrato passages on strings and that eerie ostinato arp in background which does not work in higher tempo.

I didn't like two trees very much but this is beyond beautiful, absolutely the most uplifting tune I have heard in a long time. He has captured the original perfectly.

Seemed to work very well live. I'm not too fussed about the mechanics, I just like what I hear.

This version works pretty good as an uplifting trancer, but he really took some life out of it by removing the string melody that comes in at 0:34

That probably because it just wouldnt relate well to the Trance structure - this is what i meant earlier when its difficult to get these transformations right. It can not sit right and sound 'awkward'.
