Solarstone - Thank You (Tribute to his father)

Probably the most emotional tune that was played in Utrecht during ASOT 850!
The opening tune of Solarstone his set.
The track is called 'Thank You' and is a tribute to the passing of Richs father who sadly passed away recently.

Very beautiful tune with the familiar Solarstone sound in it.

Actually the strongest aspect about this track IS the melody itself but it's either the horrible radio rip or the fact that there is so much white noise that it makes me cringe at those percussion. The melody actually goes somewhere and infact this is by far one of the best melodies rich has made but it's those drums and sloppy claps that makes it sounds low bit rate. I want a better version. Hopefully it's the asot rip that tends to overcompress everything.

It really sounded very nice in Utrecht itself!
The quality of this rip is not so good...

Melody sounds alright on first listen, might grow on me. Parts of the melody sound a bit forced. Nonetheless his soft melodic side has always been rather enjoyable.

Nothing to do with the quality,i just dont think its his strongest melody, plus the synth he uses on the chord isnt very powerful and sound a bit default-ish and doesnt change. His track 'Please' is much better than this imo.

The ideas are great but this would have so much more impact and emotion if he had stepped away from the "generic" 138 beatwork such as that noisy clap and hats. Something more delicate underneath the main body would've been beautiful.

Mwah. I still think the best solarstone tracks were when they were a trio imo. Great producer of course.

Its a touching melody, but I dont think these melodies are suited for trance in most cases. These "lullaby" type of chords. We'll see if theres a better sample coming up. Cant decide as of yet.

That middle section though!! That feels like something you dont hear alot these days with the overlapping melodies.

Well this definitely grew on me. Melody is heartfelt, you can definitely feel he's put his emotions into the track, not something i can say for a lot of trance music these days. Don't mind the uplifting production style, it's a bit similar to his Pure mixes a few years ago, although i wouldn't mind having a gentler progressive rework either.

It actually sounds like a genuine attempt this time around which is what made trance music so special. Feel sorry for Rich and his family. Sincere condolences for his loss. This track has the classic feel to it though. I hope I am wrong about those noisy claps though.

Nice sounds, nice melodies (although I'm not feeling all of them). But I can definitely sense it's heartfelt and personal and I appreciate that. Kinda reminds me of Armin's Coming Home, actually.
