Recommend me high quality Ambient tracks.

Hey people, I need some good ambient tracks for these nights I want to feel truly relaxing. I'm not looking for beats, no downtempo, no chillout... Some of my favourite:

Carbon Based Lifeforms - Betula Pendula

    Donnacha Costello - Dry Retch

Deborah Martin & J. Arif Verner - Illuminata (starts at 6:55)

Craig Padilla + Zero Ohms + Skip Murphy - Realm Of The Spirit

David Helpling & Jon Jenkins - The Same Sky

I wish I could find some new dope tracks by your recommendations

Where to begin? Wheeere to begin?

I would humbly but with big confidence call myself a ambient connoisseur since atleast a decade back if not more. Its one of the styles that always will be close to my heart and something that always will be appropriate to listen, sleep and relax to.

Trance listeners however seems most drawn to the space/deep/lush/new-agey/dreamy/subtle beat ambient music so not sure im gonna delve too deep into the droney stuff.

But let me post some of the finest personal favourite standalone tracks and Ill post something else later if you wish. Last couple of years has been extrodinary in terms of quality imo. I'll just start out with these. I have tons more.Keep in mind these are just mood-ambient and not ambient with alot of developement. From the tracks you posted it seems you might be into tracks with bit more focus on that.

My thoughts exactly. My favorite albums of all time are pretty much all ambient albums, either for their entire runtime or the majority of it.

    @Spalgame ,

In general, I think one needs to venture outside what most people would think of as “electronic music” in order to find the best ambient music. Found sounds and audio manipulation/sound design is where the genre shines, not just moody keyboard music.

Rather than list tracks I’ll give you some of my favorite albums, since that is what ambient music should be about. And I’ll limit it to pure ambience—no beats. As such, I’m leaving out my favorite composer…but you did state no percussion.

For most of these, the tracks generally flow right into each other. Not in any particular order:

Sleep Research Facility, Deep Frieze – both the band and album names are 100% accurate here. Very functional, it gets calmer and quieter the further you get in. Stylistically, think Thomas Köner meets Robert Rich.

Desiderii Marginis, That Which is Tragic and Timeless – Emotional, slightly angsty dark ambient without all of the slow-moving drones normally associated with the genre. Features the occasional acoustic guitar. "Where I end and you begin" in particular is breathtaking.

Blood Box, The Iron Dream – imagine a moody, contemplative universe, with a soul. Not imagine it having an anxiety attack every 20 minutes or so. The only thing keeping this album from perfection is the second track; everything else is glorious.

Lustmord, Carbon/Core – while not his most famous album, this is actually my favorite Lustmord album; he pretty much perfected the droney-ominous dark ambient sound here. He goes a bit spiritual in the fourth track ("Born of Cold Light"), which is unusual for him.

Raison d’Etre, Requiem for Abandoned Souls – I like this a lot but I also think this is the most depressing album ever, so it might not be what you are looking for. A mixture of drones, found sounds, synth, tape-manipulated vocals, and a lot of bells. Very moving.

Stars of the Lid, And their Refinement of the Decline – orchestral ambient, lots of strings. Sort of an ambient-meets-classical thing.

So there you have it. And don't be worried by the "dark ambient" label you see on those Discogs pages---with the exception of the Lustmord album, nothing I listed here is predominantly "scary" or anything like that.

Wow, I'm really grateful for the replies!!!!!!!!

I have been thinking that there was no answer as I didn't receive, or at least see, any notification on my email! So imagine how good it felt for myself to see all these answers. So I also have to say sorry for my delay, I'm really sorry!

Ok, I'm really looking forward to listening to all this stuff. I'm used to reading every night, unless the weekend, so I will play all these ambient tracks you said while reading, from the beginning to the end of every single piece, so that I can make a good opinion for all of them. Pretty sure I will truly like many pieces you all said, so I hope you could still recommend me more!

    Best wishes ambient lovers!

Really. In this entire thread not one mention of one of the masters of the genre?

Good pieces dude, not really what I'm looking for because of the beats, but not bad pieces at all man!

PD. First track I heard from Koan was "Dreamers of Black Hills (Blue Mix)", such another good melodic piece!

Thanks for sharing these pieces! "OUM Beyond" and "Nature of Green" are very good, I really like them, specially "Nature of Green", for me the outstanding piece of these 3 you said!

    Thanks!

So I know I said you really should listen to ambient albums rather than tracks, but..well, the hell with it: this song is great, and the rest of the album it is on pales in comparison to it.
