Hello guest! It looks like you're not a member yet. Register for free and get full access!

You haven't listened to a good mix? This one has shortened and sped-up tracks, but still you can pick something out.
I'm not sure why the level of expertise in music production is in any way correlated to having a specific taste, an opinion, or even just a first impression. When you become overly negative and always complain about the state of trance today, only then you can be called out for criticizing and not making it yourself, the way you want it to sound like.
You also can't make people feel what you did when you made it. You can only hope they recognize and pick it up.
We can't make it - I can't. Does that make Ricky light years ahead of me in terms of talent and knowledge? Yes. Did he make this album only to be listened to by producers at his level? No.
I can only criticize what I know, and it only takes ears and some knowledge/experience, along with a developed taste, to write what I did. Was it an album review? Absolutely not. It was a first impression, based on what little I had heard from that mix. And it's open to change; I want it to change.

To have a fair opinion on the way music is produced you have to have a level of expertise yourself, to think you dont is ridiculous. Call me elitist or whatever other stupid comments people want to leave, I dont care. I stand by all my comments and i'll leave that pretty much there.

This viewpoint people have that you cant give any criticism at all if you havnt produced yourself is ridiculous. You hear it so much...if that were the case, there wouldnt be any reviews of anything ever. All the magazine/movie reviewers have never produced or made a blockbuster movie.

Theres reviewing music then actually criticizing the way somebody produces music, 2 different things.
If you don't like a track fair enough. It's not for me, I just coudn't get into it, I didn't like the synths or whatever. That's fair enough. To sit and pull apart the way it was actually produced and created, when the person making such remarks couldn't produce to that level themselves, that's whats get me.
That is where I stand and that is where I stay. So in fear of repeating myself and hijacking a thread that should be on reviews, i'll leave you all to it.

Anyone fancy a pint?

Come on guys, nobody is bashing The Blonde here. Some people can like it or not. Gagi was free to express his opinion and giving some examples of why he didn't like it. Nothing wrong with that.
Cliffy, at least 90% of the comments on this thread are more than positive - people are so hyped about it. They love it.
Lets keep the good mood and discuss what we have heard from the mix. There is another thread about negativity and how music has to be judged.)

Finally managed to listen and I loved it. It's pretty much what I wanted. Typical DB sounds and atmospheres with awesome synth work coupled together with 80s vibes. Can't wait to buy the full thing, so I can hear every track in its original form as well.
Also, I really don't understand what's with the 'attacks' on Gagi. He made some fair points what he thought is missing and even despite that made very positive comments on what he found to be good. And yeah, this thread is indeed VERY positive, so I don't understand why certain people are whining.
