Matt Darey - Pres - Lost Tribe - Angel [Original and Adam White Dub Mix]

I personally love both versions I grew up with the adam white remix before hearing the original. You can get the original for free which matt darey has graciously given away for free.

Yeah this really is a quality and classic tune. Possibly the most iconic breakbeat/trance cross-over to date? To think that this track and Gamemaster were released on the same EP by HOOJ. Must haver been great picking this up and listening for that first time. Enjoyed that remix by Adam White, but the original just cant be beaten, there is not much else like it.

There is great chill-out remix too

I still see it as a Trance track... that uses a breakbeats .... I know it sounds kinda contradictory, but it has so much of the mysticisms, euphoria and dreamlike magic to it that really gives flight to the mind, the way only Trance can. However the breakdown section that begins at around 4:00 mins is pure breaks, so yeah... I don't really know myself. Can genres like Trance and Breakbeat really just be defined by the beat patterns they use? After all breaks can also be in a 4/4 time signature, just like Trance. I wonder if the track featured on any Breakbeat compilations, because it was certainly on many Trance ones....

Well you'd be surprised...I remember having an argument about 'what is trance, what is breaks' on this very same track with @tep a while a go ha. Glad we're on the same page

This is classic breaks track. Lets turn to wikipedia, notice the "trancey" sound mentioned there. It is not a coincidence that many trance producers have produced loads of wonderful breaks tracks like this one, those styles are closely connected.
    "Progressive breaks[edit]

Also sometimes known as atmospheric breaks, progressive breaks (or "prog breaks") is a subgenre of breaks that is essentially a fusion of breakbeat and progressive house. Much like progressive house, this subgenre is characterized by its "trancey" sound. Its defining traits include extended synthesizer pads and washes, melodic synth leads, heavy reverberation, and electronic breakbeats. However, unlike progressive house, very few progressive breaks tracks have vocals, with most tracks being entirely instrumental or using only electronically-altered snippets of vocal samples for sonic effect."

Who cares what genre it is. It's beautiful and that's all that matters.
