    Shacada - Sunset [Pure Progressive]

    23rd November 2018 | pure.choons.at/sunset | PTP064

As the summer draws to a close, we reminisce of carefree days; the sun, beach, parties, time spent with those we care about. Sunset is evocative of those moments, especially if you spent them on Ibiza. Produced by 3 lads from Ireland, Sunset is deliciously, sublimely simple and probably timeless.

Its pleasant. The beatwork is terribly lazy and boring though. Same loop with no work behind.

@Daysleeper. It's a nice track. I enjoy this type of trance a lot and wish there was more of it. Still, I think it misses just a little something to really make it great. I think a good comparison is the part that starts at @3.04 is nice and made me think off of Chicane - Offshore 97, particularly the part that comes in roughly @6.05 and again @7.37.

    Offshore 97

This is one of the best breakdowns of all time for me and when compared to Sunset you can hear that the drum work is far more interesting, there are more sounds fading in and out playing with each other, couple of subtle vocal samples, lots of swishing and swirling string...piano hits. It all works so well together. I have been listening to this song for over 10 years and I am never bored and often hear new things even to this day. Although Sunset captures some of this (which is great) I feel like I could get bored with it fairly quickly because its lacking the dimensions and creative playfulness and boldness... At leats this is getting signed though!

Completely agree. Theres more to offshore and other similar tracks from that time. I just think this did the job well with representing the sound.

The Balearic is okayish. But the club mix... really poorly creative if Im not wrong, that melody is used in so many Trance songs.

I agree, that original mix is super generic 2010 "progressive house" or whatever they called it back then. There has to be millions of tracks that sound just like this one. I'm glad that Solarstone is signing more calmer and balearic lowtempo tracks (like the Mike Saint Jules "Parachutes" track), but this one? I'm suspecting the "3 lads from Ireland" are close buddies with Solarstone..

Btw putting those vocals into "Offshore" might be the most horrendous vocal add-on in the history of trance music. The breakbeat parts are indeed really cool however!

Well yeah the club mix is pleasant on the ears (well produced) but musically lacking. Not so much the style i find tiring, just that the melodies are so basic and kindergarten-like.

The balaeric mix is a step up from the club mix. Flows better and less predictable if anything. The synths are also more spaced out and the rather basic melody becomes less of an issue. Think i would have enjoyed the club mix if that was produced more akin to the balaeric rendition here.

Prefer the Balearic Mix myself. Encouraging to see stuff like this popping up.

I'd finished CD 1 & 2, but the CD 3. I got virus ransomeware, so I lost 300 GB DATA. Gonna check it soon.

Yeah man, club mix is pretty generic 2010 progressive house, pam pam pam pam pam typical sounds.

    Maybe his gay friends. Haha

Haha I would have to agree with you. It was a shame at the time they felt the need to add them to the perfect original. It was 100% strong enough as it was. I can think of worse vocals though for sure.
