Solar Movement - Where We Dream (Club Mix) [Pure Trance Recordings]

    7th Jan 2019 | pure.choons.at/wherewedream | PURETRANCE133
From Pure Trance V7 under Kristina Sky's disc

Rob Stevenson a.k.a. Activa needs no introduction, but to the new generation of trance lovers his Solar Movement alias just might. There were a handful of releases under this moniker back in the mid noughties on labels such as Somatic Sense (RIP), Conspiracy (RIP), and Anjunabeats from 2005 – 2010. Rob uses this alias for his more laid-back approach to trance, and we were honoured when he opted to resurrect it for an appearance on Pure Trance, Vol. 7. The understated approach of Where We Dream is most welcome and makes the track standout amongst the #138 and #140 slammers. The melody is delightfully simple, the arrangement gentle – but don’t let that lead you to believe that the music is less impactful, as that would be a mistake. Where We Dream draws the listener in with it’s warm, sophisticated atmosphere; it is perfect for both one of those ‘love-heart’ moments on the dance-floor – or for a long night drive. Pure Bliss.

Yawn! Just hate how clean and engineered it sounds, I actually prefer the lo-fi ASOT rip on spotify (huh), sounds less engineered and reminds of Under the Sun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTdnqhV5n1o

I like it. Whether it's polished or not. It sounds nice. This sounds like it came from 2003 trance/anjunabeats where softer melodies came by.

Activa struggles with coming Up with captivating chords or memorable themes/motifs. Cant fault the production though. I like the build the most.

Really like this. Both the production and musical ideas. It's a classy uplifter. Simple, understated melodies. I also like the rhythmic quality with the toms in the background.

I gotta say, this sounds a bit amateurish to me :/ Which is weird considering this is by Activa who is anything but an amateur. But the sound choices, the percussion, it all sounds like unsigned uplifting demo tracks from 2005 or so. I appreciate that it's not overcompressed and steroidy, but at the same time it sounds very generic, very safe, very formulaic. The melody sounds very familiar to me too, but I haven't heard that "Alaska" track before and the one I'm thinking sounds even more like this.

Once again - technically brilliant from Activa but the melodies just dont come out enough for me,its like im listening to them through a muffled speaker. I just wish he would automate his synths and pads out more - its the only thing missing from his stuff imo. Have more power and emotion in the climax - the production quality deserves it.

Melodies aside, the breakdown is very nice. I know what Mag means about them not coming through though, they need more power and more personality.
