    Where trance and techno meet

    Guys,

Much of the very old stuff could be classified as either techno/house/trance. Out of this melting pot, the three emerged and evolved many times over. Still, sometimes, tracks are released that are a beautiful mix of trance/techno. I stumbled upon this one:

Is it some Sasha - Xpander chords/synths that I hear?

Do you know any more decent recent trance-tech (not techtrance) symbionts like this one:?

A lot of the minimal/melodic techno stuff (Stephan Bodzin et al) can be seen as some sort of fusion between techno and trance, and it's been around for some time. Ascension does have those Xpander chords, it's very nice.

As for me, I enjoy this kind of stuff as long as the beats aren't as aggressive as they can be in hard techno (that 2nd track you posted is an example of that - the melodic part is very good but the beats are just too aggressive and too contrasting). I want something a bit softer, more atmospheric rather than dark.

Here's one of my favourite tracks in this style. Very emotional.

This is a fine example too, just less melodic and more atmospheric.

I think @Contact might have lots of recommendations for you on this particular sort of music. Browse his threads in the Upcoming Releases section and you might find lots of examples of this sound.

Melodic techno is basically trance I would say.

I actually enjoy techno more and more.

The melodic side of it is really lovely. But did it need those headache-inducing beats?

^Ibon's doesn't merely just make trancey techno, he drops actual trance in his sets. He did a show in New York a few weeks ago that had some old Push tracks mixed in alongside techno.

His actual sets don't sound like this, but some I Hate Models tracks have a trancey feeling to them.

VII Circle has some stuff with trancey sections.

Pretty minimal stuff, but sometimes The Gods Planet have trance-like builds. Saw them do a 3+ hour set once, was glorious.

A bit repetitive, but this is trancey:

I really like this techno-trance fusion, it's basically trance 1.1 (trance 1.0 is goa, of course ).
